Your having a laugh right?

The alternative is probably just to stop providing service to those areas.

What is more interesting about this thread is that somebody thinks Blizzard owes them an explanation beyond what was provided.

Who does Blizzard have to justify any decision TO?

You? You are having a laugh, right? You aren’t the Supreme Minister In Charge of MMO Pricing…

…are you? Sir?

Canadians have been paying more for a couple years now. Funny how the cost goes up but when the Canadian dollar goes up it doesn’t adjust.

Uhh I don’t know if you know this but tokens are designed to lose roughly 25% of their value after purchase. So like here in the US we pay 20 bucks and then someone redeems it for 15 bucks.

This isn’t a zero sum system, and it’s why/how blizzard makes so much more now with wowtokens.

Welcome to inflation.

They currently pay 22 NZD, which is roughly 15 USD.

They might not be making record profits from aus players. They might be losing money from providing service to that part of the world in fact - considering everyone who doesn’t get their way about something is always referring to the strong customer protection laws they have.

Would you rather just have no service provided there?

Just be thankfully they aren’t pricing based on the current usd/aud values

Otherwise you’d be paying 22.00 AUD for that sub and not 19.95

You two need to get a room and just get it over with already…

That conversation was reconciled and dropped ages ago. Move on.

Im having a pretty good laugh , yes .

Its people like you that needs to pull your head out , your currency keeps dropping and blizzard has 0 obligation to sponge out the deficit over the long run . It’s quite a simple justification but that’s how it is…Welcome to economy 101 for running a worldwide business

Example : I offer designer’s planning online , worldwide . I charge the same price for anyone , no matter where you live … I won’t lower my price , and if i have to charge in your currency , i will adjust the price to fit mine has to not lose money …

The funny thing is, people are still mass flagging my posts even though blizzard removed those flags.

Ah got to love people who think that flagging a post = downvoting. Either that, or they really want to get be banned because of reasons. Would be funny though if they got banned for abusing the flag button.

Greentext: “You should be content with the price increase, Blizzard has bills to pay, you know!”

The excuse Activision gives is technically valid but paper thin as the exchange rate has been that way for ages, except for short bursts where we are on parity. If it’s really the excuse why not do it years ago, if you look back at the historical exchange rate it’s floated between 70-75 US cents for years.
The other way it doesn’t stack up is it’s targetted to Australia, the post does not mention that they are raising all costs worldwide to bring them on par with the USA, just Australia (the poor kiwis were hit earlier). No mention of other countries having their prices adjusted, so yes Aussies are pissed off about this - especially those that play predominantly on Oceanic servers, who have been talking about issues on those servers for years without responses from blues. Then the first blue post in ages is basically “Hi Australia hope things are going well with COVID, here’s a price increase for ya!” And as has been mentioned by a few at those times where our dollar was on parity (or better) with the US there was no blue post from Activision saying “Hi Australia we see that your dollar has increased and you are now paying significantly more than your American brethren, so we are lowering your pricing/adding free time to improve parity.”

The real thing here is Activision has sent a test shot over the bow of the player base to gauge the reaction of a sub increase. Start with a lower population base of the western world players and see how they react. If enough do a short whinge and stay it’s all good, let’s hit the EU & USA next. If there is a real backlash with cancelled subs and Shadowlands refunds (as I have done), then perhaps they’ll rethink that method of increasing profits for next years reports. As a business they have to do something as they’ll shortly be dropping to less sub numbers anyway through the multi-boxing decision.

And for those Aussies wondering whether you can still get refunds for your Shadowlands pre-purchase yes you can, as evidenced below. It’s been a fun ride all these years but it’s time to go. For those staying on good luck in Shadowlands and I hope you have fun and find the added expense worth it. Be a shame if Shadowlands turns out to be BFA 2.0 and you are paying extra for the privilige :frowning:

I’m having a good laugh too at someone who proves themselves to be uneducated brings up terms like “Economy 101” (rather than Economics 101). Also when you make claims such as “your currency keeps dropping” you should do your research first, as facts are important even in a post Trump world. Actually the Australian dollar relative to the USA dollar has been in roughly the same position for years now, for the most part fluctuating between 70-75 cents US. But I’m wasting my breath on you as ignorant people cannot be educated, a fact sadly proven time and time again over the years on WoW forums.

Actually I’m having a laugh because of all the chumps still paying real money to play the game.

God you just gave me heartburn

But tha New Zealand Dollar is lower still. Why aren’t their prices gettin’ cranked up?

If a business increases prices, it’s most likely a matter of cost. Some new law that’s passing or expecting to pass may add taxes on the game providers or maybe infrastructure or so.
