Your game is BROKEN

Not everyone has the resources and organization to do that.

Then maybe BG PVP isn’t for those people. You want Blizzard to punish people who play an MMO the way it was designed to be played?

Sigh.

Well yes because that doesn’t fit his narrative that he loses every BG.

Of course he wins AV, the Horde always wins AV right now, but he’s not going to complain about his wins, only his losses, because he’s not allowed to lose

Then I guess this game isn’t for them

Naw he’s ok with the odd loss here or there…

You’re actually wrong though. All blizzard introduced in TBC was arenas, they had the ELOs. Battlegrounds were left alone, no ranking system or split of premades from pugs.

What they did was made the PvP gear obtainable from arena points better than the gear obtainable through honor/marks, so naturally anyone with PvP chops focused their efforts in arenas.

If you actually wanted to make ELO play work in classic WoW, you’d have to completely change the way you earn the gear as well. Matches by ELO sound good until you are faced with several hour queues for high ELO WSG and AB matches because so few are queuing, or people have reached their ELO goal for the week and don’t want to risk damaging it.

Splitting off premades sounds great until you realize that the HPH goons who dodge premades will simply find a way to queue vs pugs with a mostly premade team (a la AV premades). You’d have to absolutely overhaul the system and the gear rewards to get anything like this to work, and anyone with half a brain knows blizzard isn’t going to do it.

It not only is a massive undertaking that they would likely screw up, but it would change far more than the PvP meta, and that would upset far more players than it would satisfy.

“The new battleground matchmaking system is now implemented and active. This system allows the battleground to select teams of similar equipment quality and organizational level to battle each other. For now, the system will be very forgiving about creating matchups in order to keep queue times low. However, the parameters will be adjusted as necessary when more organized teams become active in the battlegrounds.”

There are no more AV premades. In fact Blizzard went overboard and put in a system that randomizes the queues to make sure premades can’t happen. They only allow 5-man premades for AV, and they could easily do the same for WSG/AB since the system is literally already in place for AV so it isn’t even something “new” that has to be created.

Fun fact: arenas killed premades, so it never took any real effect. You were still getting BGs vs people of all gear levels. It’s just that everyone competing for gear focused on arenas, while anyone just pvping for kicks played BGs here and there. It split the pvp base between casuals and more hard-core pvpers.

The hardcore pvp’ers still had to get their honor, and many of them would play BG’s for fun even when they were capped on honor(BG’s were far more fun than arenas, especially for someone in the best arena gear).

The way the matchmaker actually worked was that it tried to match equivalent teams. This didn’t mean they put everyone in epics on a team together, and then put them against another team where everyone had epics. It just meant it would match 1 fresh 60 with 1 fresh 60, one person in arena gear with other people in arena gear, it would match a 3-man premade with another 3-man premade, and so on.

I played a LOT of TBC battlegrounds. Every game was a mix of arena players farming honor for the non-arena gear and fresh 60’s grinding honor to buy the previous season’s pvp set. From patch 2.1 onwards I NEVER saw a premade because the system forced full premades to play other full premades. Which is what it has been ever since.

Like it didn’t?

But it absolutely should have. It always should have.
