They were better at healing, and as Vanilla went on, the devs treated them this way. That wasn’t their original intent.
Just because someone has a healing button, doesn’t mean that’s the only one they should use.
I think the problem is that people are having a hard time distinguishing “need” from “want.” Consumables are not required to clear the content. Players are absolutely crushing content. The posts I see between the outrage posts here on the forum frequently contain topics like “make this harder.” In the end, I think folks just want to be pissed about something.
Agreed. And if one pays attention to Blizzard’s patch history, anything that got abused usually got fixed. Sometimes it took’em a minute… but they do get around to patching things up!
Exploit? Maybe not. “Gimmick?” Absolutely. Required to clear content? Absolutely not. Annoying as hell to farm? Absolutely.
Yeah, I know that well. Pre-phase 2, I had been running Strat UD constantly to try to get a Runeblade to abuse with a healing set. Then Blizz patched it, so I stopped.
And it was rational of them to nerf it quickly; if I’d gotten one and been getting 500 hp every 5 sec just for using that sword, it’d have been absurdly broken for PVP.
I assure you, it was. The devs came from everquest, and some of them, including ones that made design decisions, had a high distaste for hybrid classes.
Why are you farming MCP? You’re the one continuing this min/max rage where you think you’re required to do this to play end game. I have no intention of doing it.
I see no negative from this change; nothing to address.
Instead you have to farm up or buy +healing gear and can only do it for 60 seconds at a time every 6 minutes with Diamond Flask.
I kill a few of the spider mech mobs for the chance at fused wiring and to kill some time. Probably not worth it if you’re just looking to get it over with and farm more lucrative gold, but I mail them to the guild bank and they seem to appreciate it.
May as well just remove it from the game. I’ve never heard of any other class using them, even level appropriate warriors just stick to their Whirlwind weapon. The problem is Feral doesn’t (yet) have any viable weapons because of how their attacks in form work. Maybe if there were more “chance on melee hit” effects.
Emerald Dragonfang (12 Agility, 87-105 Nature proc)
Perdition’s Blade (40-56 Fire proc)
Hell Sulfuras (12 Strength, 12 Stam, 275-333 Fire dmg proc + 75/10s Fire DoT) would be a great weapon for Feral if it was chance on melee hit.
Better nerf edgemasters (lvl 44) and warden staff (43) then too. But why stop there? Lets just nerf everything that doesn’t conform with BFA philosophy.
Feral druid here. It’s definitely a luxury item for those that want to farm it out, and if they do, I’m fine if my DPS doesn’t hold up. However it’s a gimmicky item that shouldn’t have a place in end-game. If anything it shows how broken feral druids are and lacking major tools, but as a druid you bring a lot of other utility such as decurse. At the end of the day feral as either role isn’t solely about that role.
Edit: The problem OP is having isn’t necessarily the instance cap, it’s that people are acting like every run gives 1 MCP, when that’s not the case. You’re lucky to get one even half the time, and since the lockout is 24 hours not reset, it cripples people who are trying to do competitive DPS at endgame. While I believe a level 30 item has no real place in end-game, people don’t stop people from getting buffs from lower level areas (the Felwood flower) so why insult people for wanting to get an edge?
World buff stacking and spamming wasn’t “intended” vanilla play, but people do it. If you grab every world buff you can for raid, you can’t throw stones at a druid who wants to use MCP.
The difference is people aren’t farming those items over and over and over.
I agree with Dot, the issue is people farming it like crazy. I think it should probably just be nerfed all-together, which is a net positive for druids because now they can look forward to using an actual level 60 weapon.
How can you call yourself a #nochanges person and then expect Blizzard to alter a 16 year old game and balance it around Warcraft Logs? Can you not see the contradiction?
Feral dps is niche but can be done without MCP or any other gimmick like world buff stacking in Vanilla. Don’t expect Blizzard to lose any sleep over parser crocodile tears.
Well sort of, they clearly designed certain classes to be jack of all trade but then didn’t back it up with instance design later. Resulting in classes being pigeon holed into healing.
It was also such a bad design they backed of off it largely in BC and almost completely from wrath on.
Yep. They learned a lot and made some good changes later. I wasn’t implying that hybrids don’t deserve to be decent. Just stating how reality was in Vanilla.
The people saying “you don’t need it” and “it’s a luxury” are either trash players or so angry at getting beat by a cat druid that they want them brought down. It’s pathetic. People made the decision to cat based on what we knew going into this “warts and all” version, and for 9 months, it worked exactly like that. Then, Blizzard was too cheap/lazy/incompetent to fix bots, so they trashed the game for the best cat players in the game. That’s not ok. They need to do better.
