Your Biggest Acts of Kindness

I guess I will take this space to talk about the nicest thing the Horde ever did for me.

And how I turned around and completely backstabbed them.

For those who are unaware, accessing Upper Black Rock Spire takes a special key, forged from 3 separate boss gem drops from the lower instance. You take this key with the gems in it, journey to Kalimdor, and forge it under the breath of a special drake that dwells deep in the south of Duskwallow Marsh.

I journey to this cave alone and find it completely dominated by 5 or so hordies from the guild “Band of the Red Hand”. They are standing next to the big quest drake, dueling and generally having a good time. How do I gain access? Through RP walking, /wave and /hello, i establish a weird non-lingual rapport with the enemy, indicating that I mean no harm. They poly, try to chase me away but eventually let me stay while they gather more members outside the cave.

Back to key forging. Well, you get 5 charges/attempts at trying to get the drake to breathe into your ring by mind controlling it. Given the game is 15 years old, it is super buggy. Two other allies and I try to do it and we fail 4 times. I have one last attempt and get desperate.

It is the horde’s turn now. They manage to get 10+ guildies to tame this drake. The journey from Org must not have been easy. Anyway, as they beat the drake down and mind control it, I sit there while the drake breathes icy flames into the ring forging it.

I walk forward and try to place my ring next to theirs.

But something inside me asks me to pick up the forged horde ring. And…that is exactly what I did.

To the Band of the Red Hand, i hope you lads managed to forge your ring. If you didn’t, well, never trust a dwarf.

See you in Phase II.

I was riding through Arathi and I saw some horde fighting elites. They were going to lose, so I killed them to save them the repair bill.

yesterday me and an undead rogue were both trying to do a quest for tirion (the one where you have to kill the dwarf for the hammer I believe)

I assisted the rogue in killing the pack of dwarves for the hammer, the rogue then stuck around and helped me do the same.

I love that so many on this server have such concern for the repair bills of others.

I helped a horde escort the robot chicken in feralas and then when the last wave attacked, I mc’d him while the mobs killed his chicken.

Nicest thing that happened to me:

as a feral bear/cat – wanted the early tank ring for the turtle escort quest in Tanaris – was about halfway because the turtle is so damn slow and about 3 higher level alliance intercepted me and they stood around and watched me panic. They pretended that they were going to engage and then went on their merry way to Un’Goro I presume.

My heart rate never calmed until I got to the turtle’s wife on the shore.

Made up for that boomkin and lock safespotting in Gadgetzan and killing me multiple times over the course of a few days

Also there is an alliance rogue who shall not be named that is hell bent on ganking people 35 levels lower than him in Hillsbrad – non-stop for days. The turtle quest ignorers do not make up for this scum who is squarely on my main’s KoS list!!!

I play with friendly and enemy nameplates on. If I see somebody with low health I heal them. If I can’t (mostly horde) I help them kill whatever they’re killing. I love me some wpvp but I also enjoy helping. I help allies getting ganked when I can.

I spend more time helping people with quests I’ve done/skipped/haven’t started than I do leveling my own toon. For a while after launch I spent all my gold helping people buy bags since I didn’t have to save for my mount. I’ve waited around to help people (including hordies) kill named quest mobs, protect escorts, etc.

@Hoya… who hurt you!?

I have seen you post about that “boomkin and lock safespotting” in like 3 threads now!

EDIT:

Also, legitimately, I have not done a single nice thing for someone on this game. I’m a toxic piece of poop. I’m sorry. :frowning:

Zirp!!

it was just a boomkin and a lock who hit 60 early using safespots in Gadgetzan to nuke lower level horde without impunity from the guards

it was really not a big deal as the graveyard is literally 5 seconds from Gadgetzan

it just really disrupted gameplay – which is fine on a PVP server – the only problem is that they did for like 3 solid days which got irritating since I knew they were abusing game mechanics

that said I do love me some world PVP and some of the battles to even get into raids in Blackrock have been truly epic although it is a huge scorch when you lose the Ony buff

Can confirm. He’s a turd.

I saw him in WPL, was it 3 weeks ago now, and all he did was /wave.

Who needs that kind of toxicity?

There was an undead mage, young chap, cool older (middle) brother, but he himself was just struggling to defeat priests. I took him under my wing and gave him the courage to blossom into a strong young man. He’s now a renown mage on this server. And I even helped him improve his free style rap with my encouragement, and arguably some beats I laid down once.

He never said thanks but I know deep down he appreciates it.

Haha Woeden! I almost went in for the attack, but then I thought, “Lets just wave instead.”

…and 3 seconds later I jumped a mage, “Amatzu”, and immediately a shaman and some 60 rogue, “lukelol”, pounded my precious night elf butt.

I feel like there was something sinister in your reciprocal wave.

That would be funny (to me, at least), but nope. It was just a friendly wave.

I’ll probably be out there again tonight, questing until i get a BRD group.

Pretty sure you’re honorary family. Brontdros status. :x

The nicest thing i do for a horde is let them live. No seriously! As a rogue i feel its my job to be “that guy” and i will usually attack players of similar lvl. However, if im busy, questing in the area, or the horde seems to not be hostile i will usually let them live.
For Alliance members i do the best i can to assist them. Maybe some player is questing in an area and needs an elite killed real quick or help with a quest. Ive ran into several new players who dont know the game that well so i will teach them things like rotation, professions, talents, stats, and just give advice on questing.
I rarely kill horde players that are low level, however i remember this one time in Ashenvale after some WPVP that i found a gnome lock questing in a horde infested area. So i stealthed and set myself on follow. Every time some horde decided to pick a fight with what looks like an easy target they got a nasty little surprise. I saved the little guy 8 times in the first hour.

Flirting with every Tauren girl i see, and giving 4 14 slot bags to complete strangers, i mean i’ve def done kinder things on this server like spam run SFK for people to get there FREAKING ROBES OF AGRUL But i think the 14 slot bag one was a bit more lasting since two people actually wrote little cute thank you letters in my mailbox. Small things like that make my black heart shine just for a moment.
