You might be on to something
Ahh you are right, I forgot about that place… I mean it is filled with wretched and they are jus so icky.
The zone is actually incredibly small and should be extremely easy to navigate. From what I’ve gathered from the reveal, they want to implement some secrets, treasures, and whatnot into the zone, perhaps some being obtainable through navigating high spaces or climbing terrain. It would be awfully boring if you could just fly up there instantly.
Isle of Quel’Danas.
If you played PvP servers it was one of the greatest daily hubs of all time. So much action 24/7. Like a mini battleground.
These type of threads are no fun when the OP doesn’t reply back raging at everyone that disagrees with them.
Considering how forums people have always reacted, I am surprised you are astonished at the surprise.
That said, I think it’s more about disappointment, than surprise.
For me, I’ll wait until I can fly, or unlock flying before I’ll play a new zone. If we are grounded indefinitely or until such time as it is deemed is necessary to have passed, I just wont play the zone.
If I choose not to use a flying mount that isnt going to magically redesign all the zones and quests.
Yea those people are insane.
Casual players would quit the game after 5 minutes of having unlocked static flight.
This is typically a design decision of various new zones from time to time and not a new occurrence.
Padgarre wins this conversation and the forums, ty!
Its a very small zone isnt it?
Why are all of these children in adult bodies the bad kind? Why can’t they be the cool kind, like me? Less “wahhh, I don’t get my way 100% of the time”, more “ooh, shiny!” < 3
That $90 mount don’t fly.
Oh, it will hundred percent be a lag fest for a bit, but being on a RP server I am used to that. Lack of sharding always tries to stick us all into one instance, and it results in the slide show you’d imagine.
As for why? I imagine because this map was designed for no flight originally and they didn’t bother changing it. I swear I remember reading it was an unused BfA map, so prolly an unused Island Expedition map. It is tiny so they prolly think it doesn’t matter.
Don’t get me wrong. I would love to be able to fly as I find plodding around on the ground very bleh, but I will survive.
Nice, flying is bad for the game. It should be much more limited.
Even with flying hardly ever went to forbidden reach. And this zone seems to be about the same with just a bunch of boring rare farming for mount, pet collectors and so on. Without flying all the more reason to avoid it imo. Not a big deal overall.
Im glad they implemented no flying on Siren Isle.
Gives me a reason to use some of my ground mounts again.
Quel thalas, molten front, isle of thunder, oondasta, timeless, argus, mechagon.
Just a few example of no flying areas released post expansion launch. If that annoyed you that much, you’d have left years ago.
Sorry that you feel this way. Have you considered it isn’t about people not wanting flying, but maybe the zone is small enough you don’t need to fly. Have you considered that Blizzard wants the zone to not be completed in a few minutes by people making it trivial by being able to fly over encounters?
I feel there is this great entitlement that all content should be done quickly making it as trivial as fast as possible then complain there isn’t anything to do until the next patch or season. Maybe this is why content keeps getting released with bugs because you want stuff faster and faster before it’s ready for release.
“But, but, Muh flying, I can’t do the game without it”
Jk. Can we just have a bit of a balance with it. I think one groud mount zone is more than fair.
I’ve seen complaints about dragon/skyriding being the default while the old style (steady flight) being locked behind Pathfinder, especially in constrained/underground areas of the new expansion.
But yeah, you almost NEVER see people say “removing flying entirely”.
I think even players who would prefer more ground-based content realize that ship has long since sailed and they can’t ever completely get rid of it.
