You spank it, you tank it

So you’re targeting Paladins and Mages in particular with A Prostate Specific Antigen?
Seems a bit harsh if you ask me pal.

You’re a goblin what do you know of the matter?

Ah, I see what you did there! 10/10. Bare in mind that this is coming from an odd fellow that suggested Orc Druids to the forum. *Tsk *Tsk

Worst kind of person.

Here’s a PSA for you and all other terrible tanks who think their job begins and ends with the pull: learn to generate threat, learn how to keep it, and learn how to taunt when you lose it because if you are doing your job it should be impossible for anyone to pull off you, short of an actual taunt being used.

I have seen this post for days now…and held off on responding. I giggled over the title of the post… and for the most part, I agree… but the title… LOL… got me… Now I need to take this Paladin and go pray for the light to stop saying “spank” in my mind… HAHHAHAA

This game will never again see trash out side raids and high mythic + that hit hard enough to floor dps and healers who foolishly pull. Once you get geared enough normal and heroic 5 mans become total 100% jokes.

I queued with my lower ilvl friends into a normal dungeon, and absolutely nothing stopped me from shoving my way through mobs to the boss and being unable to die even without heals while doing the most dps. I drew great entertainment from us being 3 out of the 5 members of the group, meaning I couldn’t be vote kicked.

I hope this reaches a special place in your heart OP.

Depend on the difficulties of the contents.

For harder ones, those DPS wont even try to move further

For easier ones, a tank control all the pace, the dps and healer can only follow. If dps are idle enough to do something stupid, there is possibly room for pace control improvement.

I read all these comments and didn’t see my opinion represented even once, so I am posting.

If someone in your group wants to pull, LET THEM PULL. DON’T LET THEM DIE. It’s easy to take back aggro and everyone will see whats happening and appreciate you keeping control of the situation.

This concept of “punishing” your teammates for not playing how you like is absolutely absurd.

Tanks pulling is just a custom, it is not a hard set rule. ANYONE can pull. The tank can still tank and everyone can be happy and not die.

I tank pugs regularly because I love the diversity of people you get to play with, and sometimes DPS just likes to pull. I think a lot of the time they just want to feel more action and be more involved - that’s fine with me. Pugging as a DPS you can sometimes feel unimportant - they are just trying to have fun.

When I tank anyone who wants to can pull, it doesn’t affect my ability to tank in the slightest. A lot of times when the group realizes I’m not an uptight tank they will naturally take turns pulling while I hold aggro. Everyone has more fun and we complete the dungeon just fine.

If someone overpulls and we wipe, everyone can see what happened and people will speak up… usually the problem corrects itself. I never kick anyone for this - that is beyond idiotic.

I’ve found some healers have this toxic mentality as well, refusing to heal me if they think I’m not tanking right. If you don’t want to play with other people, play a single player game. Don’t force your beliefs about how to play onto others.

Tanks do seem to be worse though. When I play my healer I frequently get tanks that are overzealous control freaks. They don’t care about the DPS or wait for rezzes and expect the whole group to revolve around them. Tanking has become the most selfish role in the game.

Wow, on the other hand, is very flexible about who does what. I’ve completed dungeons as a healer when the tank leaves just by healing the hunter’s pet and having it tank instead. Honestly, these games are some of the most fun because of the added challenge.

Be a good teammate and help people out instead of trying to punish them. You will have more fun and make some unexpected friends.

im guilty of pulling on my mage during fights close to more groups of mobs, my aggro range seems pretty damn large for one, tab targeting sometimes bites me in the backside, other times i just get a little carried away.

i will say im sorry when this happens, and if people get bent out of shape for an oops and start with that “i’ll kick” stuff ill laugh n leave. on my other account i have mostly tanks, and i never EVER have once threatened to kick anyone for making a mistake. i will do my best to keep everything on me, it sure does help your healbot out a ton from getting confused as to who they should pop their heals on when its just the one person getting whopped rather than 1 dps after another

The problem with these threads isn’t the point itself. The problem is, in a small number of players, it makes them complete idiots in game.

Near launch of BfA when people were still learning 5 mans, I was in one where our mage accidentally butt pulled 2 adds from an adjacent room. The tank stopped doing everything, stood there, and says “TANK PULLS OR I DON’T TANK”.

I get tanks being annoyed when Captain Go-go-go is being overly aggressive. I personally do my best to never be the pace setter in a pug. But accidents happen, and people have their first time at some point.

I have not a single problem with the new guy fresh to runs. Accidents happen.

It’s the guy that knows better and intentionally pulls

There is nothing wrong with someone else intentionally pulling.

You’ve never done Mythics then have you?

Mythics work the same way

Yep. Let’s just let everyone pull that wants to.

That causes wipe.

Go To bed your tired and aren’t making much sense.

It doesn’t cause a wipe unless you’re a bad tank.

Or if the healer is bad or DPS cant keep up.

The tank knows what to pull. DPS doesn’t.

I have found that the DPS who likes to pull tends to know what and how to pull. It is easy to take back aggro and keep control.

Other players can see whats going on and react accordingly.
