You shouldn't have to earn functional game play

OOPS TRY AGAIN NEXT WEEK KEEP PAYING TO TRY!!!

Its downright insulting.

Yeah, I’m not sure how my monk would even play at all without my 6% extra damage on FoF conduit or having a giant robot show up and do a small amount of passive damage and healing.

What?! A conduit that makes weapons of order last 5 seconds longer!!! It’s like a brand new game with that holy cow.

It’s like a different class.

(I also want to say I hate the stupid small bonus’s stuff like soulbinds, conduits, inner Azerite traits, netherlite crucible, etc., but it’s hardly class and spec defining stuff).

I have a feeling if Blizzard stealth deactivated soulbind trees most people wouldn’t even notice without a damage meter.

They could just take away the absolutely abysmal gearing system instead.

Agreed. Should have worked more like azerite neck. Everyone gets it, gets it upgraded, and can use it from the say day as everyone else.

But they are and when the pre patch comes you will lose those passives for the most part and guess what next expansion you will have to earn them back but they will have new names to fit the new expansion .

Why do you think toons feel so broken between pre-patch and reaching max level in the case of Legion and BfA and at level 60 in SL until you had a good part of your soul bind trees opened up .

Most of those passives are renamed passives they took out of our spell books in the name of fighting the Button BLoat of MoP and WoD.

How in the heck does removing passives and making us earn them back cut down on actual abilities that take buttons.

Classes feel bad between expansions because of level scaling and removal of defense/hit rating based on level.

I’ll use TBC as an example because it’s a fresh memory, and anyone can go play it right now.

When you level in TBC, say hit 62, your secondary stats like hit and crit % go down just like now. Every level you lose power relative to the previous level.

But
it doesn’t feel that way because nothing scales to your level.

AND because of the way defense skill works against level, just being a level higher allows you to actually hit and not get crushing blows against stronger mobs. A 63 orange mob can be rough at 60, but even though I lost crit and hit % at 61 that level 63 mob is now easier because he’s yellow. Now I can hit him and he can’t crush me back. It feels like real progression.

That 58 mob that was yellow is now green. Now he does less damage to me and I hit and crit it more often despite my actual crit and hit % going down.

I agree that losing and gaining passives is stupid, but the above with level scaling and lack of level based impact is what makes leveling feel bad in the modern game (legion-SL, the 3 expansions with scaling).

It isn’t just the scaling .

Do you think you could of done Legion when it was current especially at max level without the artifact weapon or without azerite gear for BfA and this expansion at max level without picking a covenant and using one of it’s soulbinds and not slotting any conduits?

AGAIN, we’re not talking about tier sets. They are part of the problem, not the problem itself. The classes themselves are stagnating in favor of the multiple systems that you have to “earn” such as covenants, souldbinds, legendaries and patch specific additions like tier just to make your character feel like it should have felt to begin with.

Leveling? Yes obviously.

End game? Not really because instead of baking in the boring passives they put them on borrowed power. They don’t add any flavor or playstyle or good feelings though. Just number tuning.

I agree they are boring and dumb.

You have no idea what you are talking about, posts like yours is the reason why we need downvotes again.

Don’t be upset, it’s going to be ok

im just calling you out for your bad lazy takes. Terrible feedback like yourself is the reason why we have some of these garbo systems.

Oh wow a call out on the world of Warcraft forums LOL. Take your blood pressure medication

What’s the difference between something being a bonus and the lack of it being a handicap?

The last expansion where your character felt stronger as you leveled up was probably WoD.

The Draenor peeks you gained every two levels literally made you feel stronger and you didn’t have to grind an arbitrary system other then levels and were done as soon as you hit max level and that was it.

I liked the legendary system of MoP and WoD where you had a legendary that slowly got stronger as more content of the expansion unlocked. I preferred that vs a quest where one person per raid generally did or had to get lucky on drops.

It was just one piece of gear and that was it and the rest were your standard gear you got.

For all it’s faults, there were many things WoD did right as well.

Didn’t read that entire thread I see.

i don’t mind this design. you get it when you get it, you see content before and after, and you appreciate having it.

it’s alright.

My paladin felt like a paladin and I didn’t have dom shards.

My paladin still feels like a paladin without tier.

As cool as divine toll is, I would still feel like a paladin without it.

My random robot that shows up doesn’t make me feel more like a paladin.

My “stand in conc to get some healing” conduit doesn’t make me feel more like a paladin.

Whatever class I choose to play in 10.0 will still feel like that class. It’s literally the same thing as them adding and changing abilities every xpac
just the same abilities (outside of reworks) get changed.

An MMO is a game of grind. The more you grind, the more powerful your toon could become.

People who missed patches/seasons and return at the end patch are expecting to be as powerful as with those people who didnt leave? Keep on dreaming. You have to earn it. No freebies. We bleed, you have to bleed too.

You must be in a wrong game then.

BTW, RNG is RNG since Vanilla. But you have to put RNG on your favor.

List it down. Keep on dreaming. No freebies.
