I have played a hunter for a very long time and actually now main a Survival Hunter. The problem isn’t it being melee or an oddball specc. The issue is that it has a problem with being extremely focus starved if you do not have enough haste to counteract it. Specc also needs some major talent changes (like mongoose should be baseline because no other talent can compete with its requirement.)
I doubt blizzard will change it back to ranged but they could at least make any changes to help with the specc instead of leaving it nearly untouched for Shadowlands.
