I feel like they really failed WQs this time around. in Legion they were great, yes mainly because they were rewarding to do but the quests themselves were decently fun. the PVP world quests I thought were awesome even if you weren’t a pvper it was fun to get a small dose. the puzzle ones were great at least for the first while and almost none felt painful to do.
BFA, WQs stay mostly important but they removed pvp ones and replaced puzzles with really bad turtle ones. still they provided game play value and filled peoples time without being super mandatory.
SL…they are now mostly usless, terribly long to complete, not fun at all. yet still forced on you if you want rep or your 1k anima per week. clearly you don’t need to do as much as the past but wouldn’t it be nice to not dread doing them? I hope blizz looks at them and adds some with value to the cycle and maybe shortens the length to complete a lot of these. Blizz…they are just plain bad……
EDIT: the same can be said for the painfully long zone bonus objectives in threads of fate that don’t even give much exp…fix that junk too.
Yup. the only reason people cleared all wq’s in legion and bfa was because they needed to farm AP to keep competetive and in bfa, actually use their armor.
Now that AP is gone their is no need for people to constantly farm wq’s. They didnt have to change the style of them.
Maybe if you are on top of your covenants renown you can skip those. But I have just gained a renown from the do 3 quests for Bastion and also got one from the Defend Maldraxus before. So yes they give renown.
I’m doing them everyday for rep. There’s less WQs overall. The callings usually only take 3 WQs, 1 dungeon, 1 elite WQ, or looting some chests/killing 3 rares.
You don’t have to do them. It gives us something to do in the game. If they didn’t exist in the game it’s not like something else would exist in it’s place. Their absence in and of itself doesn’t bring value, because they only bring value by existing.
They bring value to people who enjoy them. People who don’t enjoy them can forego them. There is no reason to do World Quests except the world boss weekly. That hardly counts as what we mean when we discuss the concept of “World Quests”. They could easily just have a world boss without the World Quest feature. So that doesn’t count.
You get anima now which is tied to some soul ash you get for doing missions on the mission table.Well you could just farm Dungeons for anima. So there’s that.
No one needs to do World Quests, not at least to any degree tied to necessity to play in other content. World Questing is it’s own content as far as it seems.
I’m enjoying them too. I HATED WQs last expansion. Standing around waiting to pawn an NPC in a fight that lasts mere seconds isn’t fun at all. In some cases it was a one shot and if you didn’t get your hit in you had to wait for a respawn. The only players who liked that was those just wanting to rush through their emissaries and collect easy rewards. Glad that nonsense is over.
I couldnt agree more. Its a slog to get through and it should not be at all. Least in Legion they gave great rewards and decent rep. You can hardly get that now. BFA it was less rewards and in SL its more time-gated to get through with multiple steps lasting longer than should be intended.
I agree. I find tremendous value in doing them outside of callings now due to them being a great source for picking up conduits. Do they take longer to do now? Yes, you now have to do more than just waiting to gang up on a respawn that can’t even put up a real fight. That’s a good thing in my opinion.
They aren’t content. They’re just time wasting activities that really belong in another genre (it’s called mobile).
An MMORPG should have a big bad mysterious world. One full of danger and promise. To clear that impossible dungeon, yes I said dungeon out in the open world you need to lean on others, compete with others and from that communities are built.
They’ll never do it in this game though. Why I’ll never understand. They started on a bad plan with instanced content and have rode it until the wheels fell off.
