Actions and the thoughts that fuel them have cascading consequences that do matter, even if we are not uniquely remembered. All the atoms, larger than hydrogen and helium, that make up our world were formed in the dying of stars where the heavier atoms were forged.
We are the descendants of people who survived war, plagues, famine, hardship and wealth. We don’t remember their names but we are a testimony to the significance of their lives.
When it comes to names and identity, few are remembered but when it comes to their actions and inactions the ripples of their existence never truly ends.
You can replicate the body, but you won’t have the data to recreate the mind, or soul if you believe in those. Unless we figure out how to download the mind in the next few decades.
In the year 5000, when you wake up, I’d wager you’ll be more akin to your avatar in WoW than the meat bags we are now.
We will find a way to digitalize our consciousness, it’ll give us near immortality, save for a power outage I guess…
So instead of waking up, you’ll be in maintenance mode and you’ll boot up your consciousness into an artificial body or machine and go about your day, if we still have days at that point, which I doubt.
Consciousness is what seperates us all… it is the soul.
Its what defines us, its our being… The flesh… its prison and executioner.
God is a dictator who has sentenced us all to death… for witnessing God is a death sentence… and we all must go.
A poem by me, Trevor.
