I grew up with the Wonder Woman tv series, 8 tracks/records/cassette tapes, the whol betamax vs vhs debate, the Hulk tv show, and being able to walk anywhere with little danger.
Shortly before I retired out of the Army a few years ago, we got this brand new Private out of Basic in our section. Upon first meeting him, my first comment was
“Damn, dude you look just like Dougie Howser!”
Not missing a beat, young PVT looks at me and says “Who’s that, sergeant??”
I threw my hands up and walked away, realizing I had actually outlived all my TV references.
I just loved Taylor Hawkins. I really loved so many Foo Fighters videos.
Might not be old enough for one of these but I know how to change the channel on the NES’s RF switch.

When you remember being jealous of the rich kid with ColecoVision
It was all about the arcade at the mall in my hometown.
I’d always ruin pencils to rewind my tape.
It’s a playlist, yo!
But back in the day, we made tapes, or tried to, with multiple songs on a cassette (tape).
Everyone knew that guy that tried to win back the girl with a mixed tape conveying his true feelings.
I’m gonna date myself here a bit, but I used to try to get Journey, Van Halen, Springsteen, and DefLeppard on the same tape!
In no particular order:
- You had to wait in line to use a dial up pay phone.
- There was only one TV in the house and you were the wireless remote.
- You still have your original venal record collection, a working phonograph to play them on.
- You remember how New Coke tasted like Original Pepsi and Coke Classic tastes like Original Coke.
- You placed a bet on the original Bud Bowl
- You remember when the Budweiser Bullfrogs made their debut
- You watch the original airing of the last episode of M* A* S* H
Don’t forget StarTrek!
And… you used to take your parents VCR tapes and watch them when they weren’t home

I remember watching the Star Trek Animated series and being glued to the tv over the summer. I havent seen it since I was a kid but I bet it’s still marvelous XD
