I believe it’s a little more frequent than that, but Blizz hasn’t officially stated what it is as far as I know.
That said, while one person may only be able to post at a certain rate, when you combine that with other people, like with guild ads etc., it starts to become more problematic.

I want to say it is, at most, 4 messages a minute and that is being generous.
That’s true, but usually that’s only a problem on bigger servers. Smaller servers, it becomes the same person bumping the same message every minute, which to me, is more annoying.
This is what happens when you let the customers define spam, instead of doing so yourself as the owner.
Maybe this is an addon function, I’ve used one for so long I’ve forgotten, but I could have sworn if chat is inactive it just starts to fade out on the screen. Even on smaller servers I’d think it was okay to repost after chat had faded out, even if the most recent poster was me. If I remember correctly it takes somewhere around 3 to 5 minutes for chat to fade out, and plenty of people could have come into trade chat since then.
Also just so we’re being clear I 100% agree with you. Blizzard lets me type 2 messages a minute, any more than that and the game literally does not allow it. So I SHOULD be fine no matter what. If the duration between posts needs to be longer Blizzard clearly has the power to change it, so do so.

Actually, I’m not aware that the OP got warned for DBM at all? And I didn’t see a quote on him having gotten warned or actioned for DBM.

There is a lower hard limit on how many messages you can send in X time. That is the bare minimum. Beyond that it is about reports saying “argh I can’t stand seeing this every x minutes”.
On high pop servers, it blends in. On low pop servers it is like seeing the same commercial every few mins. NOBODY likes that.
That sounds like a Blizzard problem, not a player problem.
A Blizzard problem will always be blamed and taken out on the players though. Sexual misconduct in the office? Remove all the paintings in WoW and replace them with fruit! Also all those funny on the nose achievements gotta be changed. Jokes? Too far, get em outta here. Spitting? Not on my watch.

Define “spam” please. I post every 5 to 10 minutes on average. In 5 minutes on Proudmoore I can’t even scroll up in chat high enough to see my last message, its long since been drowned out.
If you got a warning for it, I’m pressing X to doubt you were doing it that infrequently.
