Obviously you didn’t level on a pvp server. It was no picnic BEFORE the honor system…
So… you want easy mode leveling while everyone around you had to work at it?
It’s a thing because leveling on a PvP server is part of the “fun” – it’s your rite of initiation if you will.
Anyone can level on a PvE without too much difficulty.
So you’re not allowed to do that and then transfer to a PvP server. You have to pay your dues to play on a PvP server.
What if they want to play the opposite faction? They have to start over, so yes some people will.
As someone who leveled up on Grobbulus (RP-PvP server)
I wouldn’t give a damn at all if someone on a PvE server were allowed to transfer to a PvP server. Well, as long as it isn’t Grobbulus (we don’t need new transfers clogging up our faction ratio and population further)
i clicked the faq link when I could not transfer and got the info here
GMs are simply support representatives and often know as much about future plans as the community does, and when they do they aren’t allowed to discuss it unless it’s been officially announced. There was a big thread similar to what your guildmate was told a few days before the transfers went open. GMs will always tell you to go to the forums for stuff they have zero control over, it’s basically their way of saying “can’t help you, sorry, this might make you feel better though”.
Levling on a pvp server especially as the minority faction is pure hell.
You don’t deserve to skip that.
This is to protect players from xfering over and regretting it since its open world pvp at all times. No flags ever. you dont choose to pvp, you are at risk at all times. its actually a smart thing, and yes, it sucks for the legit ppl who know what they are getting into, but even still its not that big a deal.
No I didn’t level on a pvp server in Classic, I knew thats not what I wanted. I did however level on a PvP server in vanilla, and I just don’t share this pride that a lot of folks do. World pvp is cool in the sense that it makes the world feel alive but as for an “accomplishment” point of view, I don’t put much merit in it… and I wouldn’t care if PvEers could transfer over. More meat for the “skilled” folks right?
I went to a pvp server NOT for some self gratification of considering myself “better” than anyone else. I went with the intention of finding PvPers to do BGs with from the same server, harder to find on a PvE server isn’t it now? Unfortunately the entire Discord premades sniped the necessity for this away.
Now since you like to thumb your nose at those who choose to play differently than you regardless of their intentions because you assume you know their motivations I suppose you also consider yourself a psychology PHD. Reality check?
What if you leveled on a PVP server, then Xferred to a PVE to get away from all the world Ganking and then decided you wanted to go back?
I wish there was a grace period on transfers. In case you regret or some friends come back to the game on the old realm suddenly and don’t want to transfer. Just rollback any progress on the new realm to exclude ninjas or economy manipulation.
Then naturally, you should also believe that people shouldn’t be able to roll new toons on your PvP server post-BGs. I mean, if everyone had to go through what you went through and all.
This is WOW Classic, there is ONLY PVE gear.
Specialized gear comes in a later episode.
it is much easier for a PVE toon to walk into a PVP world armored like a brick wall with the best of (Insert Dungeon/Raid) here
Uh, no? A little defensive there buddy. I don’t thumb my nose up at anyone. There are a lot of players with that mentality though, the “if you didn’t level here you shouldn’t be here” crowd. I just don’t get that.
The misunderstands the point of server transfers. It was to give people a out from having the death run to BRD for example on a PvP server. If PvP servers weren’t so camp heavy, transfers wouldn’t exist.
The introduction of honor didn’t change anything. It was still very cut-throat out there before it was introduced. It definitely didn’t deter me or my friends from doing wPvP whenever we possibly could.
Isn’t it obvious? we just spent 4 weeks in this forum with Alliance PVP players claiming “the game is unplayable”. That’s how hard it is leveling up on a PVP realm.
If PVE to PVP transfers were allowed, EVERYONE would level to 60 on a PVE server, and THEN transfer to a PVP server.
That’s obvious to everyone…except maybe to you.
