I could actually make the argument that guild banks increase security risk.
A hacker can see the guild ranks, chose a person of said rank knowing that all of those of said rank have the ability to access the guild bank and then hack their account.
If the guild master specifically choses who to manage it via personal conversation rather than ranking, then simply entering the guild as a lowbie or new member will not inform the hacker of who has the ability to access the items.
Lastly. I am going to re-state this quote on the case that it has now likely been easily overlooked. And for others to see and please feel free to use all of the points made in it in arguing against guild banks.
Alas, heâs doing something far more cowardly, which is pretending to address arguments made by others while ignoring the actual substance of what theyâre saying.
The idea I had was to re-format the guildbank to reflect the size of a character and replicate the functional effect of having a Vanilla bank alt.
Instead of a tab, it would be a characterâs âbank,â with as many inventory slots as a character with bags and bank space.
If youâre going to make a goldsink, then a monthly maintenance fee, instead of just a one-time payment, which gets locked if the guildbank doesnât have the gold to pay it.
The âguildbankâ itself would be represented by an NPC that can be made to look like an appropriate alt or a preset designated by the GM. Officers could then interact with this NPC and see logs of the guildbank, with one player being designated the Quatermaster or whatnot to be given the task of managing the inventory.
The introduction of an argument is not the defining point of an argument.
A well made argument stays strong or ramps up with points as the argument goes on. Labelling it as weak based on the first one to two lines is essentially âjudging a book by itâs coverâ.
Statements like this are a pet peeve of mine as a high IQ debater personality type, but this is my final post here for an extended time even if the replies are annoying. The essentials of debating and getting oneâs points through are extremely basic that misunderstanding them is to mindlessly argue like a child. I say that in general, not calling anyone as such.
Not gonna lie the response that this got made me lol.
shrug There are changes in place already. Doing whatâs best for the community at large. Guild banks arenât off the table if it has something to do with game security.
Classic is a museum piece, not a rerelease. Theyâre going to make, and already have made changes where they are necessary in order to prevent people from climbing over the walls.
I disagree. Making changes is exactly what drove so many of us away in the first place, and I donât trust Blizzard AT ALL to do whatâs best for the community at large.
Yes, they are. No changes.
Cool, but does that explain why guild banks are necessary?
