Yay Or Nay: Open All Armor Tmogs To All Classes

As the title suggests, do you think WoW tmog would be improved overall if we could not only gather the appearances of any armor we claimed but also be able to wear those skins with the new system? We can already preview other class sets on any character (provided we switch to those sets), so the only thing that should be left ‘locked’ to a class are the set bonuses and stats. Style and fashion shouldn’t be restricted, and FFXIV already did it and brought back a lot of intrigue to their game as a result.

So would you unlock all acquired armor as unlimited cosmetics for your wardrobe across any character? Yay or nay? (Personally I’m not going to accept ‘spaghetti code’ as a reason to prevent it, since that’s classified as a skill issue)

Hmmm…no ! There should be specific advantages for playing a class. I seem to remember this being (more?) of a “thing” back in the day.

Yes!

I’d be fine with it but I definitely understand people not wanting it due to clarity issues or class fantasy. Would be nice to actually be able to see those Evoker pieces on more characters outside of visage forms.

At this point, there’s really no argument against opening up transmog.

Can you express more in-depth what ‘advantages’ a class would have that correlate to armor appearance? Not arguing, but I’d like you to divulge your implication.

Yes, but locked to that specific armour type. Only for the fact that most seasons you practically have one full class set available to all classes of the armour type anyhow, having the remaining available wouldn’t be too farfetched.

So… no, then. Because OP asked yay or nay to opening all mogs to all armor types.

I might have not understood; ‘locked to that armor type’ is already available, since Leather wearers can wear quite a few BoEs that share a model with other classes of the same armor type. Is that what you meant?

As a fury warrior I can currently run around in a cloth jester suit, a wedding dress, leather skyriding attire, or any variety of chain mail appearances, while dual wielding dead fish, Christmas trees, or giant spoons.

Just remove the class restrictions on armor mogging. Whatever argument to the contrary, it’s automatically been invalidated by cosmetics that currently exist in-game.

Generic drops already enable at least one full set or close to a full set to be available for that armour type. So it wouldn’t be weird if unlocking the paladin xmog enabled warriors and dks to use them and vice versa.

However mages in anything that’s not cloth would be a no go from me personally. There needs to be some restrictions in place and armour type is where the line should be drawn.

Maybe not fully, because yeah I agree seeing a mage or lock in full plate would feel very off.

Could open it one category on either side of it’s armor type tho. So for instance cloth wearers could mog cloth or leather. Leather wearers could mog cloth, leather or mail. Mail wearers could mog leather, mail or plate, and plate wearers mog plate or mail. That would open things up but not allow super silly things like warriors wearing cloth or mages wearing plate.

This would benefit the leather and mail wearers more so than the other two, but cloth and plate already have the best mogs anyway so that’d be fine lol.

Cosmetic sets, Paladin skirts that look like cloth, shirts without chestpieces and mail armor that looks like leather already negates this, though.

This is the chief response and I completely agree; hard to forget some of the armor styles that are available to all classes that can be bought from the Trading Post and the Store. The fact those are in the game is proof enough that we’ve already fallen down the ‘silly’ hole and there’s no legitimate reason to claim that anything else would look any more silly that doesn’t already exists in the game itself (and isn’t part of the store); I mean, have you seen some of those armor sets?

10/10, solid argument.

No. I like knowing what I’m fighting at a glance in pvp.

Yes.

Disable transmog entirely in PvP.

Solved.

And you tell this by transmog??

Not the class color of the bar? LOL

You see their character model before you see their health bar.

Can you?

I don’t know.

Back in the day, you could wear your armor, and below.

So, a plate wearer could wear plate, mail, leather, and cloth. Which you wouldn’t unless you’re me and an idiot, or, perhaps, Leroy Jenkins.

But pretty sure you can’t tmog a plate piece as a cloth piece, yes?

I mean, if you want to run around wearing cloth gear mogged into cloth Other Gear, that’s fine by me.

But that’s different from letting a Warlock where plate mail mogs.
