Tried out affliction recently and I gotta say god damn this class has some buttons. The rotation is easy enough but there are 11 keybinds for most builds plus 12 if youre using Oblivion and/or Malevolence when Hellcaller comes out.
And yall have to manually spread Agonys??? Not trying to change your class but you guys like this stuff?
Find a better bind setup. It’s not bloated at all.

i.e. the fact that vile taint’s cooldown still does not match agony’s duration is a tad irksome, or that seed is now simply a tool to apply corruption to aoe
I’m all for having more skills and options to press, but if we’re bound to have more buttons to perform worse than other dps that have less, then no thank you.
But we’ll see how that goes in Phase 1

Honestly the hardest part of aff is setting up your UI. Keeping track of your dots and their pandemic windows is where all the learning curve is.
Now that we’re only maintaining 4 dots in TWW (rip in pieces siphon life), the spec’s in the best spot it’s been in a long time.
Manually spreading dots though, yeah that sucks when we can’t take vile taint. You kinda just get used to it.

30 second CD’s will in all but the lowest of keys.
How long does agony apply for. I think thats what they are talking about. Not that you cant use it every pull. That you use it and then half way through the pull agony is dropping off everything and vile taint is still on cool down. So now you have to manually reapply agony
You do if the pull lasts longer than the 18 second agony, but 18 seconds is also a rather long time.
By the time that’s over (if the pulls not already dead), you’ve dealt plenty of damage via the dots>rapture than having to reapply 4-5 isn’t a big deal.
Or the mobs are almost dead, which is likely the case after this time, and it doesn’t really matter.
This is certainly one way to prove you don’t do challenging content.

Affliction is zzz. Always has been. Thank god it is not the de facto spec anymore. In the past it was always the best spec for all content.
Dots dont even do damage anymore. No reason vile taint can’t be baseline, dots can’t last a bit longer, soul swap can’t be baseline etc.
I thought aff was fine until i leveled some alts. Aff has QoL issues probably more than any spec in the game
I leveled a warlock just for the fun of it and I literally just stopped at lvl 60 and moved on. I agree there is so much bloat and an endless stream of redundancy within the spec. It’s almost as if blizzard couldn’t find a way to stagger the ramp up properly to prevent it from just endlessly snowballing without forcing it to use an absurd amount of GCD to be effective. Hence why the skill bloat even though half the kit is redundant.
I get it… it’s just annoying amounts of bloat to manage. Cudos to all the pro Afflic locks out there who put up with that crap.
I haven’t in some time, certainly not when affliction was viable, but was 3k io in S1 of DF, so not the most challenging, but probably above average.

No, there is a common gripe about how Vile Taints CD isn’t short enough to use it for Agony refreshes.
Factoring in CDS (which you are) most specs have that many too. I find Demo way more bloated than Affliction, personally.
Especially on ST encounters where your DoTs can benefit from the “roll over” time. Then you have tons of time to just channel DS.
When I see things like this, you should know you aren’t playing the other specs optimally either. I think I have to have 30+ key kinds on every spec at least.
I dont get why people dont factor in cds when talking about button bloat. In a m+ key youre gonna be pressing a 1 min or even 2 cd alot.
And yes more specs are button bloated. Thats a problem with this game as a whole. Some are more absurd like afflic, enhancement, and arms.
Current demo including aoe talents only comes around to about 8 or 9 buttons btw which is still blegh.
Lol, what are you talking about? You know im talking about pure dps rotation right? Not stops, defensives, and utility. If youre using 30+ keybinds for every spec you gotta checkout some macros or something friend.

Classes have like 40-60 APM. So a 2min CD is something you press once every 100~ actions.
If I have 1 spell but every 3 minutes I press 5 CDs, is that the same amount of bloat as a class that has 6 spells to press every 10 seconds? No. You can’t give a 2minute spell the same weight as a 0-15second CD spell in a conversation of rotation breakdown.
Most classes feel bloated atm tbh. Definitely time for another pruning.
Pruning won’t help cause the ones that have been designing these bloated/clunky specs are the same ones that would be doing the pruning.
