I’ve started playing right before Cata hit, so yeah, I haven’t experienced “random drop” legendaries.
The only legendary I’ve experienced while content was relevant was the legendary staff in Cata, which you actually work towards and is not a random drop.
I did farm farm for the glaives though, but got it within a year, so I guess I’m not aware that it takes years for other people…
