First, they split one soul into two using Frostmourne; now, they are doing the exact opposite. How is it supposed to work? Will Azeroth’s consciousness vanish, or will it merge with Xal? Will this create a completely new personality, or result in a split personality?
Why do they always come up with such complicated scenarios? Can’t Xal simply consume her, mind-control her, or just turn her into a battery like the Titans did?

Is it really all that complicated though? To be perfectly fair, Xalatath’s end goal has always been to gain more and more power and her whole ordeal has been to consume/drain the various sources of power that she has been working towards getting ever since we freed her in BFA
Leaks are already starting to break out in the open and are suggesting that the two of them merge into one entity
Edit: Blizzard has also stated that: We lose at the end of Midnight and that leads us into The Last Titan expansion

…This nonsense, seriously. This is the type of story you’d end up with if you asked your elementary school children to write up a make-believe story world.
I really thought eventually they’d work themselves out of the fact their writers are worse than the average crop of highschool writers you’d find at, well, any highschool.
It’s embarrassing that the most popular MMO in the world has story beats this awful. As I said before, literal sub-highschool writing acuity. And these talentless hacks get paid ~80k annually. 
Edit: Considering they’re owned by Microsoft, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before they get their own ‘Xbox Asha Sharma’ treatment and a sizeable portion of their ~500 World of Warcraft employees end up future endeavored.

Part of me doesn’t buy that given the last time that happened (a long time ago but still), Blizzard back tracked and made the entity they merged into actually just be one of the two minds taking over and killing the other

I do think when you have even some of the "not-ultra-big” YouTubers like Nixxion lamenting how straight up trash the story is… I mean, there’s still time to make The Last Titan not awful. Just because Midnight was a literal steaming dog-poop doesn’t mean that The Last Titan has to be, too, right?!

It’s pretty useful about if they have a cute outfit for transmog for my characters, too, which is about the only time I use that site anymore, anyway, because current WoW is… Well, Current WoW. Not what most of us originally signed up for, has mutated to a level that’s completely unrecognizable from the original game, yet still offers a chance to play that literal several-year dreadgery that was Classic WoW under the same subscription.

I’m cautiously optimistic. Expansions are usually deep into production by this point, so big story pivots aren’t exactly easy. But there’s always a chance they adjust the landing if the feedback is loud enough. Here’s hoping. 
12.2 is coming out sometime this winter/next spring while TLT is coming out in late 2027. Unless TLT gets pushed back by a year or so there’s no time
I hated that part of Wrath because it basically destroyed Arthas’ characterization throughout ROC and TFT. I think it also started the whole “Actually, deep down in their heart of hearts, the bad guy isn’t actually a bad guy.”

I need a bit more context because my lore brain immediately goes in ten different directions.
Are they implying they were once one soul? That doesn’t quite click with the cinematic… unless something like Zovaal’s crime somehow “split” part of Azeroth’s Worldsoul. Is that even possible?
If it’s just Xal pulling off a classic cosmic power grab… how does everyone else sit this one out? I’d expect the Titans, the Elements, Life, Death, Light… heck, maybe even Chaos (Besides Sargeras ofcourse, we know he be with the Titans)… to have a stake in stopping her.
According to Dimensius, eternal darkness isn’t exactly a great outcome for anyone. 
Is Azeroth really that unreachable, or did the Titans build the ultimate “Keep Out” sign around the planet? 
NOTE: Oh, right, we never found out who said Azeroth was off-limits to the Domanaar din’t we?

As far as directions go this is basically what I expected so I’m not mad or glad about it.
WHich is better than I’ve felt for most of this expansion. Honestly I kind of hope she pulls it off, it’d be nice to be done with this world-soul stuff. I used to be fascinated by the concept when it wasn’t center stage but now I’m just sick of hearing about it. Especially after they declared her the “Prime World Soul” which as playground “everything proof shield” levels of writer insecurity behind it.
