WW feels like it's falling off

At least the aoe, in early M0s and M+ you could feel strong due to the initial burst, but now it feels like the spec falls off a cliff, you burn the energy and then spend the latter half of the pull energy starved and doing zero damage unless conduit/shadow strikes is up with SEF.

ST doesn’t feel as bad, but even there the DK’s are matching you if the fight drags on enough and in AoE rogues, DK, fury, ret, affliction and mages are smoking WW by a lot.

Wonder if it’s that same WW monk doing insane damage at the start of an xpac and then dropping off a cliff like has happened since legion……. No……

Yeah it kind of does feel that way. Like it feels really good during your burst but then others pull ahead pretty quickly. I like where we are at in terms of talents and overall feel but I think AoE needs some buffs.

I can assure you that any falling off is not a result of stat scaling but that Windwalker sustained AOE isn’t as strong now as it was in the past, so as difficulty goes up and packs live longer, WW damage doesn’t go up as much as some others.

That being said, Windwalker should be upper-middle of the pack in keys, people just often compare a spec’s performance to the best specs and not the rest.

Yeah, probably, I’m glad you confirmed what I suspect. I can keep up with hunters, non-affliction warlocks, priests, evokers.

But the moment a warrior/mage/dk/rogue/paladin come into the mix I am getting blown out of the water in trash packs.

At least with paladins I can most of the time make up in boss damage as they do fall off there, but the rest of those classes match or outpace me even in boss damage.

The class is very fun, it’s a visual spectacle, but I fear as the stats settle down I’m going to be left with listing my keys 24/7 as invites will be scarce as a monk and even when you list your own keys it might take a while to fill.

I used to play arcane mage in DF so I am very familiar with being an unwanted non-meta spec.

Do you have your tierset by any chance? Even though WW isn’t super meta, what they bring in utility is insane. That’s the main reason I stick with it.

yeah i got 4 piece tier and 619 wep

This has been a common complaint. I have seen Ret, Afflic, Havoc all hit 7mil DPS in dungeons. I’ve seen a frost DK and Arcane hit 10mil. Highest I’ve seen all together was a beta AraKara but our Unholy hit 18mil sustained on the first big pull (all the way to mini boss).

Windwalker? Pfft. 2-3mil, maybe.

Our ST feels pretty competitive. Not for like the race to world first, but your every-day dad guilds could easily have a WW doing 1mil DPS parses and being the highest n your raid.

Mythic+ is the problem, and likely will continue to be indefinitely.

I find the classes with insta-burst AoE are popping off whereas it feels like WW has a ramp to then do a big burst AoE. Our sustained is pretty good, but our opening burst kind of stinks compared to a lot of classes. ST feels pretty good though, but even then, we are dominating bosses. My son plays assassin rogue, and I think they have the same build/spend/ramp in AoE. I keep up in mythic+ though, so I don’t see myself getting trounced in dungeons.

What utility do we bring? Not being sarcastic I just can’t think of much outside of ring of peace

5% physical damage, aoe stun, rop, paralyze enrage dispel, disease+poison dispel, windwalking and tiger’s lust root break+mov speed which come in useful in siege of boralus, necrotic wake, and ara kara as well as splicer in city of threads.

Seriously?

Well, yeah. The ones that were listed didn’t come to mind. Not all of those are unique to monks, or so I thought. Take a shaman for example, I can see all the utility they bring. I apologize for the bad format here

5% physical damage
Didnt know about

aoe stun
Several classes have

paralyze enrage dispel,
Never use it, thought it was pretty niche. ( I don’t do high end content)

disease+poison dispel,
Again, wasn’t aware but haven’t really been in a position to need it.

windwalking
Forget it’s there but good to have, wouldn’t have called it utility though.

tiger’s lust root break+mov speed
Great ability, I just like to use it on people who are either behind or are carrying a flag

Point being, yes. I didnt know the utility we bring for a group that is unique to monks. Maybe I just think of utility differently. All the same, glad to know we’re wanted

I don’t see this at all. I am playing Conduit of the Celestials and push Conduit. (Honestly, it’s more like SEF → SotWL → Conduit, but still almost instantaneous AoE burst.) It reminds me of playing Bladestorm.

Could this be why you don’t see the same thing I see?

I play shado-pan after switching from conduit (shado-pan is just way too ahead in pve, raidbots puts it 140k DPS ahead of my conduit M+ build from archon).

And with SEF+Xuen+trinket+sotwl+fof+sck after WDP it’s pretty good aoe.

You will never touch a good DK or warrior or ret pally or assassination rogue or mage in aoe. Even an affliction warlock in a large enough pull will pull ahead.

Monk feels strictly middle upper pack. Not bad but I worry as keys go higher and mobs live longer, you really feel how punishing the lack in sustained aoe is.

I’m going to make a good guess that the top dogs will get some tuning anyway. Fury and Arcane are already getting nerfed again. Rogue I’m shocked hasn’t been touched. I’m assuming when RWF ends we will se more class tuning.

They’re nerfing the bad arcane hero talent that nobody plays because it’s so bad and undertuned. Sunfury arcane is untouched.

DK’s by far are the most broken outlier.
