Activision-Blizzard is still a large business / corporation. They don’t do 180 degree turns on stances for arbitrary reasons or out of ‘goodwill’. There is very likely a motive for them to do so, and it very likely is bottom line profits.
I personally feel like they finally found that tipping point in what keeps people addicted and playing and where those people draw the line once that stops being subjectively ‘fun’ for them. This is their scramble to control the damage.
Brack was the kind of Guy who wants to be friends of the Developers not the Boss. Same goes for Mike Morhaime. They founded the Company as what was practically a College Fraternity so as far as the President was concerned everyone was equal.
The New Presidents on the other hand see everyone as subordinate to them which means they will order them to fix things whether they like it or not and will order them to get to work instead of handing off the workload to the Women.
The slow work development was because the Men handed the Work over to the Women who weren’t the majority of the Company. With Presidents that care about the Company’s best interests they won’t be able to slack off anymore which means more work can be done in quicker time.
Business isn’t like a Government where the Dictator has to fear for his life from Rivals thus necessitating a bloated and convoluted Bureaucracy sending everything into Chaos. In a Business like Blizzard the Staff don’t expect to usurp the Boss as the Shareholders have the power.

The wow engine and art are really really good, other game makers take note, copy that please!!! but jeez their game design and formula are trash. I give them hell because i like playing in their world with their art but jeez, everything about the ‘game’ other than that is an ugly abomination. just stop it bliz.
