WTF - addon that tells you when people are nearby?

It doesn’t change the outcome of any fight. If you are mad your enemy is aware of you coming, you weren’t looking for a fair fight or pvp at all. You wanted to get an easy kill. Btw I’ve been using this addon since TBC…#nochanges

Prove it, people keep saying Recount and DBM were available too, and they were wrong.

reading this thread it is clear the OP did not make it out of middle school

Both damage meters and raid assist add ons were available in vanilla.

Combat logs??? That means combat had to of happened in a BG or you had to of had your own logs running, who does that? The only way you can get almost all of that information is that you actually have to click on them. The mod is giving you that information without having to click on them and that is a problem IMO.

What I find hilarious is how many of Wow’s PvP’s are the kind that want to use mods like these and will fight tooth and nail for anything that might give them an advantage over other players. While the real PvP people left years ago to play more balanced games like Guild Wars because they were tired of these kind of mods.

I remember in WoD that PvP mod “healers must die” that put lucky charms on enemy healers. What a load of BS no skill mod. I can’t believe Blizzard allowed it, that mod in TBC would have been broken immediately. But I guess to many of the players today are snowflake like and can’t do it for themselves.

When I made Rank 10 in the old system, I think the only mods I might have had was a DPS meter, omen, and Rolling Text is it existed by then.

Ahh, so since you don’t care then Blizzard should do nothing and just leave it alone. Right?

I mean, you do know that to remove it they’d have to remove a large chunk of functionality from the game? So why bother if no one cares…

The real pvp people never considered WoW a serious pvp game in the first place.

You do know that your combat logs work even when not in combat, right? They are badly-named, what they do is show all actions around you – combat or not. It’s quite easy to keep them open and watch for enemies around you, even if they aren’t in sight. This addon pretty much does just that.

“Back in the day” many people kept a combat log window open to watch for enemy activity around them. And there were addons that did the same back then too.

Using an addon is just like using any tool, they help you do stuff better. Running around without them is just willfully hurting yourself. Maybe you would have gone higher than rank 10 if you used them. The API is there to be used, just like your talents or your minions. Do you you think people refuse to use a succubus simply because it “might give them an advantage over other players”?

I never did, and neither did my friends they all left for GW and WHO. That’s why you don’t see the Koreans here. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Korean Arena team, and they dominate most PvP games. I tried to get into LoL, but there constant patching and reworked every two - three weeks make it impossible to learn the game and get good at it.

The combat log does not tell you there level I don’t think. Through walls? You might hear them, but that’s about it. BTW I never seen a video where people rely on combat log windows, they take up space and most of us minimize them as small as possible so we could see what was going on around us better.

BTW the quote you pulled for me I was mainly talking about add-ons that do extra things like “healers must die” and the other major PVP add-ons out there.

Just read the thread, you’re re-hashing things that have already been discussed and disproven.

The quote from you explicitly talks about combat logs and I show that your supposition in the whole quote is incorrect. It doesn’t need any further context.

It’s a game hack and cheaters use it, plain and simple.

You heard it here first folks, using UI customizations is a hack for cheaters.

Welcome back!

It can’t be a hack if it’s an API made by Blizzard exactly for this kind of purpose. It it was a hack and cheating then in the last 15 years they would have changed the API to remove it.

Things don’t become hacks and cheating simply because you dislike them.

Ya, there are plenty of things in real life also that you can do, but probably should not. Defending this add on puts you in the lamer territory lol.

The combat log gives you more details on what is going on around you with the enemy than this mod does.

This just helps to keep the screen cleaner by not having multiple tabs open for dialogue all over the screen.

Do you consider the combat log a “hack” since it gives more detailed information?

Just use the combat log then, no need for the add on.

I just explained why the add-on is better to keep your screen less cluttered.

Then you reply with this.

Amazing.

Edit: I run with as few things on screen as possible. I don’t even show abilities that don’t have a CD because they are key mapped and spammable. I only have 1 ability showing that doesn’t have a CD for range check so I can see if it’s OOR. I hide virtually everything else.

I like as much screen real-estate dedicated to the game. YOU might like the look of a 90s flight sim game where half the screen is dials, buttons, knobs, switched, text with just a tiny viewport in the middle but I like my games clean.
