WTB 450, 500, 550, and 600 Mount Achievements

There is one thing I have often wondered about in regards to how the achievements have worked from Legion forward.

Prior to Legion, it did seem like the achievements truly did track ONLY mounts that were usable by one character.

However, that seemed to have changed with Legion. I have all of the Legion class hall mounts and they all counted towards the achievement. In addition, so did profession mounts, whereas before they would not count for characters who did not have that profession.

BFA didn’t really seem to throw any wrenches into the workings of the achievements, but Shadowlands sure has – with the Covenant mounts.

Think about it, at the moment we are restricted with some mounts based on our Covenant. But imagine how aggravating it would be for the achievements to properly keep track of your usable mounts if you are switching Covenants around. If the achievements only relied on YOUR usable mounts, the numbers on the achievements would constantly be in flux if you Covenant swap a lot.

I honestly think that Blizzard has painted themselves into a corner with the mount achievements and how they previously tracked. Now it seems like they may have to start tracking our mounts across our entire account.

Below I have done some comparisons between 5 of my characters.

When I use the Wow Secret Finding & Collections Discord bot to track my mounts, it gives the exact same amount each time no matter what class, profession, or faction I use.

I checked 5 of my characters and every single one returned a count of 510 mounts.

All collection achievements need an update- but especially mounts.

I read/heard Ion saying somewhere they don’t want to overwhelm new players by adding high-number achievments, but really they’re already overwhelmed with the sheer number of mounts being added with each major patch- Shadowlands is already over 100 and we havent even gotten the Jailer’s patch yet. Might as well give them something to work for.

I agree that it could be overwhelming for new players, but here is another point of view. Regardless if there is an achievement for 700 mounts or not, the new player is going to first see the collections list and realize there are over 700 mounts (bogus numbers just using as an example). Just seeing the collections list is more overwhelming than knowing that there is an achievement for it.

Also, if a new player comes to the game, I highly doubt the first thing they are worried about is collections or achievements.

Lastly, if a new player determines at any point they want to attempt to collect all collections or achievements, well, that takes a certain mindset and dedication, as well as having the time. Even at this point, 400 mounts would take years to achieve for a new player coming to the game and only playing one character and only focusing on mounts. The game itself is overwhelming just because of all the things you can do and the abundance of achievements in the game, even for me as a veteran player who been collecting for years on multiple toons - previous expansions farming with 25-50 max level toons.

I am once again asking you, Blizzard, to add/update these new collection achievements.

Now they they appear to be using the Soaring Spelltome model (unused model from the Wandering Ancient community event), I feel like the other 3 options (Nerubian Swarmer, Curious Caterpillar, Gooey Slimesaber) could all work for mount collection achieves too.

Not too much time left to slip in these new achievements for 9.1.5 Blizzard, better get on it!

Just came here to say the samething

official 9.1.5 patch notes out…no luck. pretty unfortunate and disappointing for dedicated long-term collectors. Not sure why they’d avoid such a low effort addition for some of their most loyal customers.

It’s crazy there still aren’t new ones. Here’s hoping for 9.2. These kind of achievements are what make the game fun for collectors like us. It’s fun to collect, but having the achievement makes for a more tangible goal (in the virtual sense). Even if the reward is still just another lame recolor.

Not overwhelming them with high-number achievements doesn’t make sense anyway, since for these types of achievement, the next one only becomes visible once you’ve completed the current one.

You aim for 50 as shown in the achievements pane, and then once you get it, it shows you the next amount to aim for. It’s not like they’re all listed there from the get-go.

That’s just an excuse from Blizzard, and a very poor one.

Not saying I agree with it- just what I heard. I for one, would like to see achievements through at least 600, preferably higher for mounts. There’s plenty of options for rewards.

pretty sure there are folks with 700 mounts, granted, probably a handful, but i’m sure they exist. achievements should meet those chosen ones as well, rather than already be behind the bleeding edge. 600 is no joke either, i still havent gotten there…

I haven’t really done much collecting in years. The last time I was what I would consider a “Hardcore” collector was in MoP. I got every TBC mount still obtainable and was making good progress on WotLK before I stopped playing in WoD. Since my return I didn’t really do much with how busy I was with all the other content in the game. As of SL I REALLY got back in to collecting. In less then 2 months I collected 122 mounts between SL, BFA and some WoD. As someone who is edging up there by taking advantage of the expansion that added the most mounts in history It is crazy to me that they haven’t added a new mount achieve since 8.0 (BFA’s launch)

I think Blizz is going the wrong way here. Instead of putting more focus on mainline content to be everyone primary goals things like mount collecting, Lore Master, Open world meta achievements and so on should have rewards to show off a players dedication. In MoP I did Daily Quest Achievements in Townlong steppes because it gave the elusive Onyix Cloud Serpent. In SL many people did EVERYTHING associated with open world content in Korthia and the Maw to obtain one of the 4 new hand mounts. If you haven’t done it some of that grind was pretty mindless.

So more we say. More, More, More!

Just came back after a 6 month break from the game and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed that there has been no progress on these achieves…

Our friend Xanlorash made a post on the new Community Council forums (Regarding Mount & Pet Collection Achievements!).

Hopefully that got some more visibility at least. Not sure if someone is able to bump it to the top of the forum as well?
