Wrongfully Banned, 10min from server shutdown on Wednesday

Greetings,

I’ve read multiple posts of the recent ban wave of innocent parties.

I am also within that group, believe it or not. I’m aware that nothing can be done making this post and the appeal process is all there is. However, getting flagged as a false positive for “Hacks” is vexing to say the least.

The Banned followed after fighting Nethermancer Sepethrea and her trash that do the knock up on my prot pally. What I believe to have happened was I got knocked up so high that it triggered the Z-Axis alert for botting/hacking.

I have already sent 2 appeals in for the possible overturn, and was met with ‘Penalty Upheld’ initially with a copy-paste response of:
”Support said: Greetings, This action has been taken in accordance with our Terms of Use and our In-game Policies ( https://blizzard.com/support/article/42673 ), which all players acknowledge and agree to prior to playing. These policies and conditions allow us to maintain a fun and safe game environment for all of our players. Our Battle.net Terms of Use can be found at https://blizzard.com/company/legal/eula.html”
When the initial Email stated the offense was “Use of Unauthorized 3rd party programs (Hacks)”

I don’t use 3rd party programs, I don’t account share, I do utilize a VPN and Anti-Virus which I’ve read may be a factor. This TBC launch I have stayed up 20-30hrs multiple time in the first 7 days playing with my duo with our overlapping time frames.

I was met on the 2nd appeal of, in short: “This has already been investigated and reviewed. Per our terms of service, this account was penalized due to the use of unauthorized third-party software.” by GM - Kiwoawiu.

I’m certain this ban is a False Positive. It is moving into day 3 of my account’s ban. All the time and work I put in to get a little ahead to be all for naught with my 15yr old account being banned. Doesn’t make sense on why I’d jeopardize my account with trying to gain something by hacking/cheating

Well its not the vpn unless ur constantly using multiple one no its not anti virus. What gets some players is usi g unrelated programs not used for wow that could be considered multitasking.

I use NordVPN and AVG TuneUp, Driver Updater, AntiTrack in addition to the Anti-virus. There hasn’t been any new program I don’t normally run simultaneously when I play wow that i was running at the time, or for the last year of anniversary. Steam, Curseforge, Discord, ShareX, Google Chrome.

There has been many a time where in game i’ll encounter “transfer aborted: instance not found” then when i turn my VPN off that issue doesn’t occur and the game then loads.

That’s rough — I’m dealing with the same thing.

The only thing I had downloaded from the prior session of gaming was an new version of an addon – ItemRack TBC Classic – I had been using from anniversary/Era from Curseforge. As the previous 1 from Anniversay/Era – ItemRack Classic – didn’t function as most other addons at first for TBC Anniversary unless you went and edited LUA files

It is almost certain that whatever triggered your ban was not what you were doing at the time.
Account actions, most times, are from something that happened weeks or months ago.
Also, it is virtually impossible to be banned for a legit addon. By “legit”, an addon uses only LUA code and had NO separate .exe programs - addons operate in the WoW sandbox and are fair game. I’ve never heard of anyone being banned for a legit LUA-based addon.

Ok following thru with that of weeks and months prior.

Weeks - during TBC pre-patch. AB/WSG Premades (apposing team) vs PuGs (me)
making the statement of sitting on hands so the game can end quicker so we all can move onto an enjoyable (less getting beat down game)
Months - running 2 accounts at once, 1 client on the 2nd monitor and the primary acct on the 1st monitor, which me mousing over to the 2nd account to hit jump as waiting for Rend to drop

2nd account isn’t banned. Everything was being operated by me solely, sitting here at my pc. not a program

It could be something sitting in memory, not actually being used during your wow game play, that triggered the investigation. But ultimately, nobody here will tell you without doubt what was detected.

This is new information. While multiboxing is allowed, any sort of stream-lining is strictly against the rules (even the windows feature that allows focus over mouse over can get you into trouble).

Are both accounts registered under your legal information too?

both accounts are on my 1 battle.net

I canceled the other account’s subscription as it was not long required to get World Buffed heading into TBC, and selling to other a players on alliance to get it.

My point was - do the names and other details on the wow licences match up? If not, that can lead to account action.

let me check. pretty sure they are both under my information

by my understanding, the 2 wow accounts on my 1 battle.net account are listed under my information

I use windows 10, most of my OS systems are stock/default. first of me learning about this windows feature. Majority of the time of me operating both accounts at once i would click onto the other client to gain focus. i also utilize Scroll Wheel Up/Down as keybinding for hotkeys in game.
I Googled this setting, and have gone to the OS setting. it has been disabled my entire time of this OS

Here is a list of all the addons I have DL’d on TBC:
Altoholic, Atlas, AtlasLoot TBC 2026 Anniversary, Attune, aux, BagBrother, Bagnon, Bartender4, BigWigs Encounter Tools, BigWigs_BurningCrusade - The Burning Crusade content pack for BigWigs, BigWigs_Classic - The Classic Era and Season of Discovery (SoD) content pack for BigWigs, Buff Timers, BugGrabber, BugSack, Classic Castbars, ClassicAuraDurations, CursorTrail, DBM - Deadly Boss Mods (DBM-Core), DBM - Dungeons, Delves, Visions, & Events (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM, DBM - PvP Mods (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM, DBM - SoD and Vanilla (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM, DBM - The Burning Crusade (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM, Decursive, Dejunk (Sell & Destroy Junk), Details! Damage Meter, Diminish DR Tracker, Extended Character Stats, FiveSecondRule, Gargul | Master Loot Tool for GDKP, TMB, SoftRes and Auto Loot, GatherMate2 Classic, GatherMate2 Data Wowhead classic, Grid2, HandyNotes, HandyNotes - Netherwing Eggs, HandyNotes: Burning Crusade, HandyNotes: FlightMasters (Classic), Hermes (Era & TBC), ItemRack Classic - BCC Anniversary (Performance Fix), ItemRack TBC Classic, Leatrix Maps, Leatrix Plus, LFG Group Bulletin Board, MikScrollingBattleText, MikScrollingBattleText(TBC Anniversary), MinimapButtonButton, NiceDamage (Reloaded), Nova Instance Tracker, Nova Raid Companion, Nova World Buffs, OmniBar, OmniCC, PallyPower, Pawn, Postal, Prat 3.0, Profession Cooldown, project-1429158 (WeaponSwingTimer), Quartz, Questie, RareScanner, RatingBuster Classic, RestedXP Guide, SexyMap, Shadowed Unit Frames, Speedy AutoLoot, Spy TBC, SwedgeTimer (TBC Anniversary Update), Threat Plates, Titan Panel, Titan Panel [Reputation], Twitch Emotes v2, WeakAuras, WeaponSwingTimer SixxFix, What’s Training?, WIM (WoW Instant Messenger) v3

I also use Corsair iCUE by something I have come across as maybe cause a false positive

As Nephe mentioned, anything that can streamline multiboxing is not allowed. This is including native windows software; in this instance, using the mouse over to interact with a second window without having to click anything in it.

  • Record Macros and Remap Keys and Buttons

I looked up the icue software. This could be a problem if used to do more than one keypress; example, holding a mouse button down to continuously hit one key on repeat. One keypress per action.

Just using the software to bind one button/macro to is okay. Example, one of my extra buttons on my mouse is mapped to Ctrl+Q, which is my keybind to summon a random mount.

allow me to re-phase the initial comment response. I moused over and clicked to gain focus on the window. I mention in the follow up: “first of me learning about this windows feature. Majority of the time of me operating both accounts at once i would click onto the other client to gain focus. i also utilize Scroll Wheel Up/Down as keybinding for hotkeys in game.
I Googled this setting, and have gone to the OS setting. it has been disabled my entire time of this OS”

my iCUE use is solely cosmetic. Only lights

I have also come into even further information, of my generic controller that i have plugged in for the purpose of steam games exclusively. That has a physical Turbo input setting on it. I’ve never used the controller on WoW.

What did u mean selling to another player.

Selling the Mind Control access so the alliance get obtain Warchief’s Blessing for in-game gold.

not against ToS

Nor is it supported. However, that would also not trigger a 3rd party program flag.

Unfortunately, no matter how many addons you use (which are not going to flag the account unless they reside outside of the addon folder), or software you list that you use, will have any effect on Blizzard’s logs.

Your only recourse is the appeal system. Technically speaking, posting about account actions is not allowed on the forums, but some leniency is given here in CS to help point people in the right direction.

All you can do is appeal for an account action.

Thank you all for your inputs.

May things be made just

Just wanted clarification thats all its possible u recieved tainted gold tho.

Whether you think this is a false positive is not up for debate. The fact that Blizzard detected something within your system to upheld the decision is the final answer given.

Let’s look at some possibilities:

  • Do you also use the same computer to play games on to also use for Work? Some companies use certain software that would trigger for Blizzard to investigate and take action. This is mainly focused on software that does automation.
  • Do you have certain Microsoft Features or Softwared installed or running: I heard that Remote Desktop can also be the cause, and I do know you can not have mouse scrolling enabled for inactive windows
  • Do you use any other software for other games? Some cheat engines and trainers can not be running alongside when playing World of Warcraft. Anything that minipulates the memory either needs to be fully uninstalled or fully closed off, including from the Task Manager.

Just a quick correction, thanks to Tiapriestess in regards the mouse scrolling with inactive windows:

Like, these are some examples. But what you think and what Blizzard has detected is not for anyone to debate. You are responsible for everything you have on your own PC, and you should have full knowledge of what you have installed or running on your PC.

This is not quite true. You can have that feature enabled in the OS, but cannot use it with WoW’s windows (either in Task View or in the Taskbar preview panes). I’ve had that feature enabled since it became part of the OS many years ago. The feature in and of itself does not trigger a flag on the account, but using it with WoW’s windows for anything other than when WoW is in the foreground (i.e. it’s “focused”) would trigger a flag as it is considered a form of automation.
