Writing Prompt: Your Worst Timeline (crossposting from WET)

So I know this is a year old thread but since then my guild and I have cracked a ton of jokes about an alternate universe Altielle. One who not only accepted the opportunity to become felborne, but also indulged in fel magic to the point of transforming into a demon. Sort of became a fun little project of mine to explore, I even drew up a picture of it.

Behold: Fel Altielle

When she awoke on her thirteenth day, she was horrified to find she’d lost feeling in her feet again. Only upon inspecting the twisted hooves she now stood upon did she embrace the changes given to her by her new masters.

So I should probably talk about how this Altielle differs from the main one, aside from the obvious. Oddly enough? She isn’t all that different from the main universe counterpart.

Altielle has always been a bit of a charmer, in her own strange way. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, sometimes begrudgingly, and people tend to like that. In this reality, she is no different.

The difference is this version embraces it. She wields her emotions to a deadly effect, charming people with her “realness”, then dragging them down into the depths with her.

Instead of being afraid of her emotions and trying to keep them in check, she lets it all blow out. Anger and frustration is explosive and violent. Love and desire is obsessive and unwavering. Fear drives her away as fast as empathy pulls her forward.

She’s basically a weaponized mess of a person, turned against Azeroth by the Legion to recruit more servants.

Sarestha, at her core, is a fanatic. A well-intentioned one, sure. But one who has a tendency to follow with unquestioning loyalty, unless something REALLY goes against her core ethos. This was all the more prevalent when she was alive, as a Scarlet Crusader she was willing to do an awful lot to achieve her big goals - the restoration of Lordaeron and the destruction of the Scourge.

I think her worst timeline would’ve been to have NOT died in the Scarlet Enclave, when Acherus attacked. Had she been picked for the Crimson Dawn, she’d have sailed to Northrend and been one of the Crusaders to set up shop at New Hearthglen. The Scarlet Onslaught got a lot more dubious than even the Crusade had done, with their shadow priests and their death knights and the like. I think Sarestha would’ve spiraled ever further down the road of insanity. To catch up with the current timeline, where the Priest storyline in Legion shows us the dubious fate of the Scarlet Onslaught… depressingly I think Sara’d still be there. Helping the Onslaught devour itself from within, essentially, still frantically believing that their golden age would be ahead of them - that they’d sail back and reclaim Lordaeron… even though at this point it’d be logistically impossible. Because she’d be aware of this impossibility, I think she’d gradually slip into insanity, honestly. Fanatically committed to her dreams, but with no way of ever achieving it as the Onslaught devoured itself from within.

Ironically, for Sarestha, her death ended up being one of the best things that could have happened to her.

though this character isnt sint anymore, i am the master of my own realm

Sint was pretty close to reaching her darkest timeline. From her position, she had to deal with some pretty horrific forces that twisted her mind and body over their many battles. A few lucky breaks and a chance meeting saved her mind, but what if she never met Seer Kuraav to heal her corrupted mind?

Sint would’ve quickly lost her mind, a downward spiral that would have her reconnect to the powers of the Void that she discarded for the sake of her friends and family. This connection, tied with her already present mutations from contact to the Void, would quickly return Sint’s previous deep connection to the Void. Coupled with her training to unlock the power of her family, the Gift of Dragonfire will be twisted by the evil powers Sint regains. The Gift will be stolen from the dead Dagons, the living Dagons, and all of the echoes of the Gift will be bound to Sint by tendrils of entropy. Her followers already almost religiously fanatic in their support of her, plus the devotion of her close friends and family would give Sint a very sizable population to convert to Darkness. Though, Sint has yet to fully lose it. As she falls down this spiral, believing this path to be the best to protect her loved ones against N’zoth and N’zoth’s dark masters, Sint decides to find the grave of an old enemy of her’s. The buried strength of the Lord, an alien warlord with immense power in the Void, will be devoured by Sint to finish her downfall. Her mind lost, Sint will continue to seek power to protect her kin.

Once a militant bastion that believed in the spirit of all sentient beings, now turns dark and determined to crush all opposition. Each possible betrayal made clear, the Cult of Dagon rips through Azeroth’s underworld, the armies of this Cult building for a final confrontation.

A goddess to her followers and soon feared by even N’zoth, it is clear that Sint is no ally to any. She is Chaos, she is War. The Lord said she’d become something so much greater than him, and his prophecy has finally been fulfilled. It was his corruption that twisted Sint’s mind, that broke her. And it was Sint’s beliefs that allowed this downfall to take effect. Instead of being a forgotten hero, she’d be a terrible monster for all to take down.

A shadowy flame would burn from within Sint’s heart, twisting her into the Mad Dragonslayer, the Final Horseman of the Apocalypse. Conquest.
