Wrath of the Bolvar discussion

Y’all remember when the most interesting and satisfying spec in the game was completely wiped and reworked to give demon hunters a CD they can use every 4 minutes for just a flat damage boost?

Sure, take my affliction spec. You can’t hurt me anymore. DO IT. SUFFERING BRINGS ME PLEASURE.:rofl::joy::sob:

im still wondering what they were trying to do with legion demonology

like. were they just at their round table, and one dude just wrote ‘Imps! But not too many.’ on the whiteboard, and the devs began like, a roaring applause

For all intents and purposes I actually really liked Legion Demo. And the improvements while I was still playing. Could have been better of course.

I have never liked Demo but I felt awful for the people who did like it and lost Meta. I’m Afflic or die.

I had an entire character based around metamorphasis and dark apotheosis. Having that ripped away hurt.

“Just make her a demon hunter!” She was a human ya dumb, they can’t be yet. If they could, she would be one already

Honestly warlocks should get meta back. It was different enough in look and how it worked that it would be different from DHs. All they have to do is call it something else.

If I’m going to briefly entertain speculation / design discussion.

They don’t have to change the name at all. They’re different classes, they do different things. That’s okay. Blizzard pretended to worry about spec identity just long enough to shatter half of the existing archetypes to shove a handful of specs into individual fantasies at the cost of a lot of what made the class itself distinctive.

Warlock Meta can continue to cast spells, that’s perfectly okay. Frankly, it’d be innovative to have a caster that maybe bursts in a bunch of rapid fire spells or whatever.

Demon Hunter Meta can continue to be about melee, it’s just the exact same cooldown old Meta was anyways without anything added that made it unique. Just stolen.

Neither of these classes would suffer from an overlap. They come from the same sources. They just use them differently. If there’s no problem with Death Knights and Frost Mages, there’s no problem with Destro Locks and Fire Mages, there’s literally no issue with Demo and Demon Hunters.

Except, you know, for the part where Blizzard doesn’t seem to agree, nor be physically capable of addressing more than one gimmick / class at a time.

blizzard will never give it back because then they’d have to admit that it was wrong and stupid to take it in the first place

i really hope necromancers are just a class skin for warlocks, my poor evil boys have suffered enough

plus it means there’s still a chance for tinker

Warlocks have not suffered enough. They got waterwalking and water breathing from shaman, but it got removed from shaman and with a glyph warlocks could also swim faster with it.

Warlocks also got casting-while-moving nerfed for everyone, but especially shaman who was able to cast lightning bolt while moving in MoP. Warlocks had that talent that let them cast like, half their kit while moving and so Blizzard deemed it too OP while shaman was left with nothing.

Warlocks deserve to have more taken from them!!

I’m… I’m in this post and I don’t like it, let me have my few Warlock pleasures

The reasoning here seems peculiar, but I am in favor of people suffering.

warlocks were a walking meme for the first two patches in their own expansion i think we can forgive them for water theft

Part of the reason shaman suffer so much is because of warlocks–even in the lore.

Warlocks deserve nothing but spite.

While I find your evidence dubious, I am stirred by your rhetoric.

Now you’re reminding me how disappointing the warlock class campaign was. We should have had all my followers plotting to overthrow me behind my back but instead they wanted to worship the ground I walked on just like every other follower.

There’s just no winning for me :weary:

Listen, I’m a warrior. If anyone else dares to complain about their class hall I may have to play the “I had to hang out in valhalla with a bunch of gold-dipped Vrykul instead of doing anything warrior-related for the whole expansion” card

Also my artifacts were major dumb you guys got cool stuff

You played the game back then!

Warlocks kept their water breathing and also got that glyph that gave them a swim speed boost, as mentioned in this thread.

Shaman could cast lightning bolt while moving (or, with Spiritwalker’s Grace as a cooldown, any spell) but that got removed and Spiritwalker’s Grace was made Restoration-only. Because Blizzard hates ele more than anything else. These changes were made because Blizzard felt that casting-while-moving was too powerful, citing warlocks casting on the move thanks to the talent Kil’jaeden’s cunning, which was originally a cooldown but got buffed into being a passive, then later changed back to a cooldown, then removed. They kept it longer than shaman got to keep mobile lightning bolt >:C

Baenura you just need to think this through: who makes more sense to breathe underwater? The class with strong spiritual ties to the primal forces of water and air, or the imp tossing enemy of all that is living?

If the answer isn’t obviously the latter to you I just don’t think we understand each other
