LFG Tools

We continue to iterate on the bulletin-board style Looking for Group tool, and we do not have plans to add the Random Dungeon Finder.

For players, this has probably been the hottest topic of discussion since our announcement, and we welcome all the continuing feedback on how to improve the tool and make it better. I know this will be disappointing news for some, but we want to settle this topic before launch so everyone knows what to expect and can plan accordingly.

We remain hopeful that our recent anti-boosting changes, especially on Fresh Start realms, will invigorate the lower-level dungeons around launch. We also expect the LFG tool to help facilitate long-term friendship formation for players who are looking for it.

I just genuinely do not understand. I’ve been playing since Vanilla. The amount of friends I’ve made along the way from dungeons I can count on one hand. Nearly everyone I know feels the same. The current LFM tools in TBC classic are awful, and the changes so far in Wrath Classic have not improved its shortcomings at all.

If you want to “preserve realm identity” you could at least implement server-based RDF. The amount of time wasted without RFD waiting for a group to form is absolutely disgusting, and while in a dungeon, almost no one ever speaks.

I’m an adult now. I don’t have much time. Let me do what I want to do each day while queueing for heroics in the background. Please stop stop disrespecting our time. I don’t think anyone had a problem with RDF.

LFR is a very clear line not to cross. But RDF is perfectly acceptable. I never would have tried out tanking without RDF’s implementation in retail.

Take it back to the Monday morning meeting and rethink this AGAIN. We want RDF… just read through these comments out loud in the meeting. HEAR your players, your fans. I have been a Blizzard fan longer then most of your Dev team has been alive… go back to your roots and listen to your player base. Apologize, add RDF, and move forward.

Didnnt say it did…

Im also not on the forums saying im being forced to play a certain way bc i cant click a button wait 30 min and be teleported to dungeon.

Because you’ll likely never find a group that way. Sitting idly in the LFG tool and posting in LFG hoping for an invite doesn’t get you many bites. The only way is to make a group, and you’ll still be sitting waiting for a tank/healer - unless you play one.

Not to mention the spam is going to be unreal and hard to read anything. You have to create a chat tab just for LFG and you’ll have to stare at it and constantly click refresh in the LFG tool in order to actually find anyone. You can’t passively check it now and again, as you’ll simply miss inviting people. Or, miss being invited - though if you’re a DPS you’ll get declined 99% of the time.

This is the reality of LFG.

teleport to the dungeon when the team is complete

Here’s what I’m guessing with the LFG Tool in regards to pugging, if you mostly play with friends/guildies the LFG Tool and LFD doesn’t matter to you.

Tanks will use it as they can just pop open the list and grab 4 people. And as tanks are the real bottleneck that means everyone will have to use it.

Healers will do okay since they’re still somewhat rare.

DPS will be in an even worse spot.

I find plenty of groups for dungeons while im questing in those zones with /1. I know effort is hard and frustrating…

Well yes lying is easier than actually finding a dungeon group.

Dps would of had long queues with RDF anyway though.

They might. Not that they’ll quit in protest, of course. But that many or more might end up cancelling after the burn out from rapid fire content cycles leaves with little to do. Between RMT fueled GDKP, frozen orb HR or get bent 5 mans and more, it might end up bleeding servers of players slowly but surely.

IDK about pagle, but there is a lot of dungeons forming in general on mankrik.

Yes but they are guaranteed a group eventually.4

And 20 minutes of sitting a queue then getting a group is a lot better than 20 minutes sitting chat doing nothing more than whispering any group “I’ll go” and not getting a group.

Then honestly WOTLK is as great as all you say it is then.

You don’t have to be condescending. Yes, while leveling in the relevant zones, you will eventually find a group - but when people are able to filter you, and the tool is designed with players being filtered (players aren’t considered real people in the tool, just a name, class, and role) - it’s going to happen.

I’ve run two dungeons on my Druid since I started leveling it - both Ramps. That’s with watching the chat and seeing if people are recruiting. There aren’t low level dungeons to join. Oh, except one where I got a DM out of nowhere asking to heal SM - on the other side of the world from where I am, as a spec I am not.

Private servers offer a more authentic experience, and that’s where a number of people have gone.

Sometimes I wish the WoW Classic devs could learn a thing or two from the Oldschool Runescape devs and how they keep their relationship with their players.

  • Add a working version of RDF (doesn’t need teleport to dungeon, etc)
  • Achievements, mounts and pets SHOULD be account-wide.
  • Isn’t “Heroic” in Wrath = 25m and “Normal” 10m?

No.

Naxx had no Heroic mode
Ulduar had hard modes
ToGC and ICC had heroic modes.

Sort of, that was just labeling in Naxx/Ulduar.

The achieves were really heroic mode.

2 things TBC has taught me

1.) When i play dps i create my own group.

2.) When i tank or heal i dont need to make my own group a dps will whisper me sooner than later.

3.) I find it hilarious people are " blizzard is forcing me to play a certain way" wah wah but are completely silent on the meta slave mentailty this community has… im literally rolling on the floor lauguing over th3 hypocrisy
