Been trying out the Overlord addon for some wpvp and honestly wish this would be something Blizz made standard around various contested zones.

I know RR has reached out to several others regarding the addon with positive responses but wanted to toss the addon some visibility here for all peeps looking to switch things up and get more participants. It may still have some bugs and the addon is being actively worked on so if you run into an issue you can reach out to Troma the developer on his discord.

TL;DR of the addon: it adds capturable areas to Arathi Highlands that have to be fought over in a chain until you can attack the opposing faction’s main base. You can help your team by aquiring “gold” from mining areas in HFoothills to increase or decrease the timer for the contested areas. The fight enters a truce for a couple hours after a faction wins the map. The scoreboard resets weekly. There is a shard identifier that Rdy supplied for the addon as well.

FYI, since Arathi has a couple different “timelines” I had to head to the bronze dragon lady, make sure I had the current timeline selected and then /reload.

Edit: the addon communicates with participating players via the Overlord in-game community (joining auto accepts you in the community finder), bnet friends, and invisible realm channel. Ofc raid and party works too.

This addon is very popular on EU servers and we would really like to see it kick of in NA. We need challengers on the horde side.

I’ve been actively lobbying for and participating in the development of the Overlord World PvP addon since its creation last month.

As of right now, Overlord is gaining a lot of momentum and finding success on EU Servers, currently flourishing on French servers, as the author is a French player who has an undying passion for World PvP and RP-PvP, with a taste for the old Warcraft 3 style of faction conflict themes.

For some additional background, the addon’s author gained notoriety in the form of recognition from Blizzard executives on Twitter and a resulting WoWhead article during Dragonflight for his creation of the “A Call to Azeroth” website – a site that displayed several ideas from his team, “The Warmode Project”, to iterate on War Mode in retail WoW and improve on existing features, provide incentives, and introduce new events within War Mode across the old world zones… all to make World PvP the pillar of endgame content that it once was. With the Overlord addon, Troma is taking matters into his own hands as a dedicated World PvPer; the World PvP community at large should follow this example and support Overlord!

This addon is very ambitious and has a lot of potential, with greater support from the US World PvP community. From the flagship zone of Arathi Highlands, Overlord has plans to spread the battles into other old world zones – Gilneas, Silverpine Forest, Ashenvale, and the Barrens are all in planning stages, for development in the near future.

I’ve done quite a bit of work so far getting the word out about Overlord to several Alliance and Horde World PvP and RP-PvP communities on Moon Guard, Wyrmrest Accord, and Emerald Dream… notable guilds like Clan Battlehammer, Ironsworn Regiment, Sunfury Battalion, Ruthless Renegades, MDGA, and others have all shown great interest in Overlord… with even more support, we can really get the ball rolling and show Blizz that World PvP deserves more support.

Yes the idea is that with this post and with the engagement of the communities we can bring this awesome and exciting content to NA. It is a huge hit in EU and France. 10,000++ downloads. This is real and it will work. We just have to all get on the same page.

The addon ideas sounds amazing. I will give it a try. I wonder if this can be expanded to more relevant zones like the Voidstorm or Zul’ aman?

Yes, plans are to expand to more zones once any major bugs are found and fixed. Ill be floating around this evening on Sargeras shard to cap some stuff for Ally side. Scoreboard resets tomorrow!

It should be pretty much plug and play. I don’t remember needing to do anything except enable the addon and double check the bronze dragon lady for my timeline.

Also, IT’S RESET DAY! The Overlord addon should reset for another week of tug of war. I’ll see if I can upload last week’s total to check pvp.

Alright I’m finally going to try it, so far it looks fun. Did the creator say why they chose arathi highlands specifically? Is it like a pvp oldhead who likes these old zones?

Would be cool to see something like this for current zones too, more activity probably. Especially since they sequestered all actual wpvp activities to SR (annoying).

Would be cool to see the addon author add this to hellfire peninsula for tbc and also maybe SS/TM.

I would say crossroads/astranaar as well but that’d be too wide a field. Maybe astranaar and splinter tree.

UPDATE: Overlord’s 4.0 Update is LIVE!

In addition to the Arathi Highlands, Gilneas is now an open world warzone, with even more accessibility!

Whereas Arathi requires players who haven’t unlocked the BFA version of the zone to complete some prerequisites in BFA, Gilneas has no zone-wide quest-based phasing obstacles. Users so far have been enjoying the much-needed jolt that Overlord has given to player-driven World PvP in classic zones. If a user attempts to capture an objective in one of the supported zones, it notifies users of the opposite faction; I’ve gotten some pretty quick responses from Horde players recently!

After you download the Overlord, you will find a button on the addon’s display that adds you to the Overlord US Community, for users to converse, team up, and sync together to really get the battle going!

Both Arathi Highlands and Gilneas are non-CRZ (Cross Realm Zone), so while the addon is still gaining popularity on other servers, most who are currently using it are on Moon Guard/Wyrmrest Accord, Emerald Dream, and Tichondrius.
There are plans to add functionality to CRZ zones in the near future; Loch Modan is likely next, with Burning Steppes/Blackrock Mountain being a candidate for development afterwards!

Overlord is being used actively on Moonguard and WRA. The goal is to make a lot more servers and people participate. We are creating our own wpvp content. Join the fight today!

Ever since I downloaded it, I’ve been having ton of fun fighting in wpvp. Kind of reminds me of the old days, back when I was on Emerald Dream.

Hey I am hearing your guild is active I would love to set up some small scale or medium scale wpvp with you guys.

Deacon#1133 is my btag. Our guild is called Ruthless Renegades and we are actively trying to get this addon more popularity. The oppurtunities for growth and community involvement are huge. We would love to see this become a popular “game mode”.

I can’t recommend the addon enough, it’s so well made and really utilizes WPVP to the potential it can be. I’ve had so much fun with it so far, hoping to see it gain more traction

To say this is a passion project for Troma is an understatement. We need this addon to be picked up by the masses I highly encourage this to be shared with as many people as possible. It is organically growing and we are looking for partnerships with guilds to use the addon and our efforts are to get this up and running so eventually it will perform like the old “world defense” channel for any old heads like me. Please please download!!!
