Wows punishment system needs a absolute OVERHAUL

1 of the things in the chat box they sent me was “this is LITERALLY the worst bg for honor farming”

You did not get Silenced (which is the one that doubles), you got a 10 days (now 9) day suspension for that specific reported action.

Again, see the guy who complained in CS about his 10 day Suspension. It was for Ongoing Harassment of another person specifically.

If you got an actual Suspension of 10 days that was a fresh penalty for your current behavior.

You don’t have to be the worst of the worst for Blizz to give you a time out for treating others like garbage in game.

This ^^^^

Be nice to people, or at least keep your thoughts to yourself. If you can’t just take your fingers off the keyboard for a few mins. Take a break and go outside.

I can say a lot of very true things - and people will rightfully tell me never to come visit them again. Consequences happen. Think before you speak or something…old saying.

Now you are admitting that you probobly did say some awful things. And you are trying to justify them by trying to ham fist it with “physical reality”

Take your 9 day ban and be a better person in game. Learn a lesson. Grow as a person. Be better.

Someone out there is going to get offended by whatever i say no matter what it is

Then maybe don’t talk to other people. You can’t seem to handle it.

You probably shouldn’t use the OW thread to try and make your point. It is apples to oranges. You already admitted that you were rude to people, which is against the ToS:
Behavior that intentionally detracts from others’ enjoyment is unacceptable. We expect our players to treat each other with respect and promote an enjoyable environment.

BliBzzard’s In-Game Code of Conduct

You also mentioned something about people abusing the reporting system. From the ToS:
falsely reporting another player with the sole intent of restricting their gameplay is also unacceptable and will result in penalties to your account.

And then finally the ToS says:
We reserve the right to restrict offending accounts as much as necessary to keep Blizzard games a fun experience for all players.

You agreed to this so your options are either to follow the ToS, or go play something else.

its a mmorpg a type of game that is based around the idea of talking and communicating with other people

You are not the victim here. You got punished for behaving badly. If what you say is offensive, then people will get offended. If what you say is insulting, people will feel insulted. And if what you say is harassing, people will feel harassed.

Just be better. If you cant adhere to some simple rules of conduct in the game, them maybe it isnt the game for you.

Then learn how to interact in a way that doesn’t get you banned because as much as you want to convince us otherwise you are not the victim in this scenario.

Believe it or not you can talk to people without offending them.

its becoming increasingly dificult

I miss the days when Papa Jeff would swoop in and post some of the logs of said person claiming innocence.

The kind that really really doesn’t want to pay for customer service representatives.

Do they? Or did they just get greedy and automate their customer service and stop caring about it?

It’s almost as if they have automated the appeal process for their automated bans

yea. But if you cant communicate and talk to people without getting banned for violating the Chat ToS. then maybe the communication aspect isnt for you

You broke the rules enjoy your suspension.

It isn’t. Count to ten before hitting enter. Gives you a moment to cool down before posting/saying something you know is going to get you called out.

That is what the CS forum is for  They are more than happy to correct misinformation about the system.

Particularly when someone says it was automated vs applied by a GM. Then that it was for “nothing”.

Like this 10 day suspension the other day. The person got clarification from the Forum Support Agent as to why they got Suspended instead of “just” silenced.

It seems it was earned. I would wager the OP also earned it.

EDIT - and here we are in CS! That was …unexpected.

I hope you enjoyed your ride! Please gather your belongings and carefully proceed to the exit. There are tea and cookies on the table outside! :coffee: :cookie:

This topic has been closed since we do not allow discussion of disciplinary actions on the forum (Forum Code of Conduct). If anyone feels they have received a penalty that is inaccurate, they may file a support ticket to appeal that decision.

However, I’ve moved this thread over to the Customer Support forum since this is more of a Customer Support topic and I also want to clarify some of the misconceptions and misinfortmation presented in this topic.

There’s nothing really spooky about this. It’s the predictable result of using inappropriate language in-game. This includes, but is not limited to, directed insults towards other players in Battlegrounds and inappropriate language in public chat channels.

I don’t know anyone who believes this or attempts to present that as fact. We know toxicity is a problem in online communities across the internet and Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft, are not immune. That’s why there were focused development efforts towards improving our anti-toxicity systems in 9.1.5 - including improvents to /ignore, and better communication/transparency around right-click reports.

Without going into specific details, I can share that the severity of the penalty is the result of the history of the account. Since there have been multiple chat penalties in the past, the penalty for new verified reports will continue to increase up to and including permanent account closure.

For reference, the In-game Code of Conduct that guides our decisions can be found on our support website:
