WoW2 would not work

Those aren’t just updates though? They are SEQUELS, different games with familiar elements. Am I not thinking right?
Like, by all means, take me into what Azeroth looks like 50 or 100 or 300 years from now. Tell a new story, with familiar elements.

I feel like we need to seperate things.

  • Yes, the story in those games is a following of the previous.
  • The reason why the 2s came out wasn’t that, since the 1s had expansions and patches all the time, and the story was an on-going story. Destiny 1 had at least 4 major story developments and raids before Destiny 2 came out and has been continuing the story ever since. Same for The Division 1 and 2.
  • I think we’re talking mechanics and engine (correct me if I’m wrong about this), and even though they had new engines (probably), the game mechanics were very similar, just updated and with alot of QOL changes.

Yeah, the reason the 2s came out wasn’t necessarily story, but THEY HAD STORY. Do you believe Blizzard could or would be able to do that, as well as update mechanics or art? A HUGE complaint is hating the story as it is now, after all.
But anyway, everyone should also play Division 2

I said COULD BE better, you go off the rail and I am the problem?

Reality. 15 million subscribers down to under 3 million and YOU claim the game is great and anyone that does not say so just talks endlessly about how bad the game is. Blinders. Also, you never asked for suggestions on how to make the game better and thus you GOT NONE.

What a condescending piece of work you are.

A realistic WoW 2 would just be a reset of the games story and a big revamp of the world.

Realistically the only thing you need to do a reboot is a large enough timeskip for people and the world to move on from what you had before. FF14 already did this.

Its not that simple with this game.

When you got several playable races in this game lifespan easily reaching over 10,000 years it would have to be a pretty MASSIVE time skip. This is excluding all the shenanigans going on with stuff like the Army of the Light etc…

This worked for stuff like GW2 because all the mortal races in that universe have relatively normal lifespans of around 100-150 years so a 250 year time skip was long enough for any major characters to die out (outside of characters like Joko who is effectively immortal).

ffxiv effectively remade the universe it was a hard reset.

Those who want WoW2…

Are you ready to lose all your mounts, toys, pets, achievements, transmog, ect…?

Doubt.

it would be a seperate game. you’d still have retail lol

I don’t even know what wow2 would be. :dracthyr_a1: Everybody seems to have a diff idea where it’s like “just fix everything and put it on a new engine” which is…not gonna happen.

Kind of like how classic+ is just everybody’s wish list for stuff they never implemented.

So basically no reason to do it.

The graphics are fine and if you can’t let go of your collection there’s no point.

2s of games have all flopped
Overwatch 2
Destiny 2
Titanfall 2

It’s just a way 2 kill your game.

How do you know?

Look what happened when overwatch 2 came out. You can’t play overwatch 1.

bc wow 2 would prolly just be vanilla upgraded. they would be so dumb if they upheaved this and the amount of backlash for “deleting” all your progress like that… irvine would burn that night lol

Only way for WoW 2 to work is if Blizzard isn’t developing it.

I think it all depends what Blizzard did with a WoW2, and how far in the past or future that it takes place. Reasonably, if the game takes place, something like 20 years in the future, we could recreate our characters.

But, this is a fair point, and I don’t actually ever want my character to die.

WoW 2 would be a redo of graphics and updating the code. it would be fixing constant issues we experience from a 19 yr old game. as they keep adding more it keeps slogging down and less and less is working.

Whaling off of tokens

well one thing they could do is return the use of toys and gadgets in pvp. that stuff turns pvp into a real treat.

they could add classes and races we’ve been begging for for a decade or more, like ogres, high elves, san’layn, necromancers, naga, ethereals, bards and player housing. but i think they fired too many people, then controversies, then covid, the economy sinking, and so on, development slowed to a crawl.

I wouldn’t suggest a WOW 2, because it insinuates that you need to play WoW to understand the story. Same way people needed to play Mass Effect before ME2 and 3.

Instead, I think Blizzard should invest in making a new Star Craft and Warcraft game to draw in new generations of gamers. I’m not sure which genre they should take place in, but I’m partial to souls-likes and MMORPGs.

Shooters and other pickup games have always been more popular. That’s not the reason why WoW doesn’t draw in a substantial amount of new blood to the game. The reason why new people don’t join is because it’s a very old game with an established player base who are generally hostile to new players. Who in their right mind would want to play a game where they missed the glory days everyone talks about and where everyone around you has cosmetics and mounts that they’ve spent the last 20 years grinding for?

No, if they create a new MMORPG it should be a new experience where nothing from your WoW progress carries over. Those invested in WoW and the pixels they collected can keep playing WoW while everyone else and new generations can get pulled into a new game.

Unrelated to your post, OP, but I can’t unsee the L and the G in your character’s name being switched around due to my perverse mind.

It would also require new PCs to play it for a lot of people and change the signature style of the game.

Plus most “realistic” graphics look washed out. They also age poorly. And Unreal has always had issues. Some versions with memory leaks.

No thanks.
