we should be more worried if they do an event and no one cares. the unfortunate thing is that all these new content patches are ending up just like that, no one cares about forbidden island, Zaralek Cavern and there are maybe a small handful of people at the dreams surge and Fyrakk Assault events. there aren’t that many people playing in the Emerald Dream zone and you have to use the group finder to find anyone trying to kill the world boss since week one.
Hunters figured out that if they hearthed out of Zul Gurub with Hakar’s corrupted blood on their pet, they could spread the curse to entier populations. Every time the DoT ticked, it had a chance to spread to someone within x yards of the infected person.
Hijinks ensued.
No we shouldn’t.
It’s not people will immediately forget the mode exists or won’t do it, if it’s an optional toggle. See Warmode. It still has people going into it, even if the incentive reward is pretty bad. People PvP for the fun of it. And i will be sure people will play zombie mode for the fun of it too.
You’re acting like these modes can’t stand on their own merits and has to disrupt the normal gameplay. As i’ve said before, if the only way to not partake the event is to log off or go somewhere else, then it’s not a good event.
As much i love the Pre-legion invasion event, it should’ve been done via by toggle to back to the actual normal gameplay as it tends to get annoying and old after a little while.
Mate, these content patches are not like going from going to thunder isles to isles of giants to timeless isles where each zone replaced by the newest one. Or Korteha to Zenny morty, or whatever the places called. (Don’t tell me because i’mma forget about the names immediately after anyways lol)
These zones in DF still serve a purpose even now given how they setup DF with Flightstones and etc. And get gear and such. It’s at this point, any of those are valid a way of gearing up and getting power.
…And “nobody cares” implies 100% nobody. Small handful (Given your sample size is less then 1% in the grand scheme of things in WoW given how many realms, zones, times of day, and areas exactly?) isn’t “nobody caring”.
You have to find a group with ANY world boss, this isn’t new.
An event that results in players quitting the game is the worst of all. The people who hate forced PvP were quitting the game. The sadists who think it’s a fantastic thing should not be catered to. They are small in number. People who can’t have fun unless they are tormenting whatever victims they choose to target are bad for the game and should not be enabled.
Blizzard does not react to complaints. They react when people are quitting the game in large numbers.
For people who want this, being able to force players who they know don’t want to participate into it is a big part of their pleasure.
For those who do not know about the corrupted blood event. Here is an explanation;
(Copied from the Fandom website)
Origin:
Patch 1.7.0, released September 13, 2005, saw the opening of Zul’Gurub, the game’s first 20-player raid dungeon where players faced off against an ancient tribe of jungle trolls under the sway of the ancient Blood God, Hakkar the Soulflayer. Upon engaging the demon, players were stricken by a debuff called “Corrupted Blood” which would periodically sap their life. It inflicted 250–300 points of damage (compared to the average health of 4000-5000 for a player of the highest level at that time) every few seconds to the afflicted player.
The disease would also be passed on to other players who were simply standing in close proximity to an infected person. Originally this malady was confined within the Zul’Gurub instance but made its way into the outside world by way of hunter pets that contracted the disease.
The disease would eventually go away as time passed or when the infected character died. The only way that a player was able to bring the disease outside of Zul’Gurub was by allowing a pet to get the debuff, dismissing the pet in less than five seconds, then summoning it in a populated area. (When dismissed, the pet retains the debuff and the timer of the buff is paused.) It caused problems because hunters dismissed their pets after being infected, and brought them out later at the stable masters in large cities. The disease could also be contracted by NPCs (who could also spread it outside of Zul’Gurub); due to this fact, the debuff quickly spread to large populations, instantly killing low-level players. Some players discovered that flagging themselves for PvP would prevent non-flagged players from infecting them; the players who were enjoying themselves by spreading the plague started flagging themselves as well (which eliminated the advantage of being flagged). Within hours Corrupted Blood had infected entire cities such as Ironforge and Orgrimmar because of their high player concentrations. Low-level players were killed in seconds by the high-damage disease. For days carpets of skeletons riddled the highest populated towns and were rendered uninhabitable by the persistent plague. Eventually Blizzard fixed the issue so that the plague could not exist outside of Zul’Gurub but fan reaction to the epidemic was strangely positive and even influenced Blizzard’s world event design for the Zombie Infestation event before the release of Wrath of the Lich King.
This was fixed in the 1.8.0 patch, as pets can no longer get the debuff, and the effect cannot exist outside of the Zul’Gurub instance.
Legacy
In late April 2009, Reuters published an article discussing the causes and effects of the Corrupted Blood outbreak, and its relation to the swine flu pandemic. University researchers studied the Corrupted Blood progression, and through it could more easily understand the spread of real-life diseases.
Then there was:
The Zombie Infestation, or Zombie Plague, is the world event sparked one week after patch immediately preceding the release of Wrath of the Lich King It was followed by the second Scourge Invasion and Death Rising. The event had many parts to them. So I won’t list them. Lots of text. So if you are interested please just Google them.
I’m still trying to make sense of this thread, since those were 2 different events.
I figured the OP just lumped them together to draw allusions to the way griefers “played” both the incident and the event the same way.
Yeah. I did lump them all together in my memory. I have gotten so old I forget things like that. But oh well, what can I say?
there is a difference between needing a group and having to use to group finder to find a group for the new world boss.
you’d frequently see groups of people waiting at the world boss for it to respawn, but this new one.
…Okay, tell us the difference. Because they both look the same to me.
I mean if i need a group, it’s obvious on what i have to use The Group finder to find me one.
Okay, and what are you using here to base this lack of inclusion here off of? Your small handful picked out realms, and times of days? Were you standing there in 24 hours a day for the past 7 days the first week, just starting at the world boss, taking notes of the players that come by?
Yet, they have no problem telling people to log off the game.
It sounds like to me that people are telling others to quit the game essentially because they won’t play with them in a mode they like, which is very selfish lol. Just saying if a mode makes people log off as the only way to not participate (meaning they can’t play the rest of the game), then the mode should be optional.
