WoW would be better without an economy

You can get some use of professions especially for friends and guildies without spamming trade chat. I craft all my gear and for a few friends on a number of profession alts.

Some people enjoy flipping and selling things on the AH.

Farming old raids for transmogs.

Farming current raids for BoEs.

Crafting and selling toys and mounts.

Crafting and selling anything professions can sell on the AH.

In Dragonflight I made millions of gold farming crafting recipes from world events and selling them. Crafting recipe farm sucked in TWW though since they were less valuable and the rarest recipes weren’t in high demand.

There’s a battle pet market though not super active. This could have been more active if Blizzard had ever added more to the feature or something like a battle pet app connected to your bnet account.

Housing in the next expansion will likely create another large cosmetic market in addition to the ones that already exist.

Your examples would exist or currently exist for the sole reason of seeing your gold total go up…

Gold you can use to get free game time and free Blizzard games.

The game literally pays for itself and all other Blizzard products.

Sounds like nothing I would want to be part of

so never?

You can just say this… you dont need to make up reasons that don’t exist. This is a valid desire.

I enjoy gathering, playing the auction house, it’s an integral part of my WoW gameplay experience and has been for 18 years.

Respectfully, no thanks.

I did just say this in my first post you responded to. You literally quoted me saying it and then asked for examples of activities related to the economy.

All of my examples exist… The reason you do them usually is to make more gold outside of making crafted gear for friends.

Some people actually enjoy mining and herbing and find it kind of relaxing.

Some people actually enjoy gold grinding.

Stop trying to turn this game into a lobby game for M+ and raid.

Or they could just actually enforce their TOS.

And region-lock the game banning VPNs and all connections from China, India, etc. on NA/EU servers.

Also, the people who purchase cosmetic things on the AH whether it’s mogs or mounts or toys or whatever housing items we can make next expansion is because some people find collecting and using those things a fun addition to the game.

People sell things to make gold.

People buy things for practical value or for fun value.

I would tackle bots and AH addons first.

And maybe remove the token and spend billions to track down all RMT activity once and for all.

Are they enjoying these activities for their own sake? Or to get rich and manipulate the AH etc?

If gold is removed they can continue mining and herbing. And we could lay a foundation to a barter economy.

Thank Elune you’re not a wow developer.

Please remember this is a PC game, which have always been a bit more complex than a console game. The game has be simplified in so many other ways, but removing currency and the ways to make it would be the “wow killer”.

So your business suggestion to Microsoft/Blizzard is to cut off a major source of income and then make a multi-billion dollar investment that’s almost certain to have no meaningful return?

Now dont bring logic into this…

This isn’t the first wild take I’ve seen from her.

Now I know not to take her seriously anymore.

Remember, all those people who do professions and all those people who love the AH, buy the game and pay a subscription which helps to keep it going.

If all those people leave because their part of the game is gone, what are you willing to pay in addition to what you are paying now to play the game?

Well you would lose all the bots and rmt so it would definitely have a negative impact.

Not for the same reason as op I would still like to see servers without trading as to promote an environment without bots and less rmt which personally I value more than having an economy. But I get it many people like to be advantaged with gold or money because simply playing the game would be bad.

As far as professions go I dont mind consumables and others and I think it’s time to let them be more account wide. With how much time and work is involved with current profession system it would make more sense if all your charactere had access to the same.

True, that would be one benefit…fewer bots and RMT. I personally wouldn’t mind that much since I don’t gold farm or interact with the AH much…I just think a lot of other people would care.
