WoW token in Classic

You’re entitled to feel that way, a lot of people on these forums seem to think opinions that differ from theirs will somehow manifest or that arguing opinions makes one iota of difference to the company. I highly doubt we’ll get the token, and I don’t even want it. My pocketbook will thank me if nothing else.

If we did get it though, I’d understand why. It’s not like they introduced it to retail to intentionally ruin everyone’s fun, they just had to do something about selling gold.

Yes i can read and you are completely wrong on thinking they will hurt the economy of classic. Its a moot point.

How? Explain exactly how? Tokens are simply a means to pay for game time.

  1. Player with enough irl money buys an ingame token to sell on ah. Price is determined by blizz and players have no control over it. Player gets extra gold.

  2. In game player wity more gold than they need, doesn’t want to use irl cash to pay for game time.

Both parties win.

The only people arguing this are those who think gold farmers are as big as they say in retail. They are not. I have not seen a gold farmer in about 4 or 5 years.

Yes they still have websites. Im talking about in game chat spamming. I have not seen a single one.

Saying either party is wrong. Is just dumb. You can not tell someone how to enjoy their time. You can not tell someone they are wrong for using a clearly profitable resource.

No im completely serious. Reading everyone’s posts on not wanting tokens is honestly pathetic. It wont affect the economy in anyway.

Then you certainly have a terrible memory.

Lionheart Helm, Titanic Leggings, Edgemaster’s Handguards, Bloodvine Set, Freezing Band to name a few, and let’s not forget that you can just buy yourself a carry in a better guild for a specific item in a raid.

IDD that tokens suck and whatnot, but don’t base your arguments on something that’s entirely wrong.

I probably don’t remember those items as none of them were BiS for mages. And mage was the only class I played at 60 in Vanilla.

As far as guilds selling carries, I don’t recall guilds doing that on my server. But I suppose it probably happened.

That’s literally only half the equation.

I prefer the good ol’ days when the only place you could buy gold was from Chinese farmers. It was much better for the economy and the community. Just ask all the players who took part…at least the ones who were not banned.

I’m not lashing out. Lashing out would be to do something out of anger. I’m making fun of idiots such as yourself.

It’s funny to me that you think these things. For example, I don’t lash out at flat earthers. Nothing they do effects me. But they are so dumb I have to make fun of them for it.

You really don’t understand what tokens do, do you? I’m going to keep this as simple as possible for you. Without tokens there is no need to farm gold, or create gold because at a certain point you don’t need anymore.

With tokens, there is ALWAYS a need to farm gold. With this incentive your whole population is farming gold or buying gold when normally they wouldn’t be. This creates inflation because of the amount of gold the game is creating, but not getting rid of because most of the time the gold is going to player to player trades.

Whatever you want to call it, you just admitted you’re a troll. You’re here to make fun, not constructively add to the conversation. I’m done here because this is a dumb topic anyway, if you think your white-knighting anti-tokenism or whatever you want to call what you’re representing means a hill of beans to Blizzard, well I feel sorry for you. They will make their decisions totally independent of your “feedback.” Find more constructive uses of your time and don’t get your rocks off making fun of others when you disagree with them, it makes you look like a fool and a troll. But then you just admitted to trolling, so I’m done here. I said good day!

In Vanilla WoW, all players are equal - 15 bucks a month grants access to everyone. Gold in game requires labor (time spent acquiring gold). That earned gold can then be used to advance the character in game - mounts, consumables, re-spec fees, etc.

With the introduction of tokens, people outside the game with disposable income can pay real currency to short cut the effort to acquire gold in game. It gives people with money an advantage over those playing who don’t have extra money to spend. Basically it creates a hidden class of haves and have-nots in the game. Most of us feel this ruins the game. Players are no longer co-equals.

You end up with a poor in-game working class farming up gold to fuel those better off outside the game who can sell tokens and just do the more elite activities in the game. This is Pay to Win.

I will also argue that the token system benefits the commercial gold farming companies more than it hinders them. They can avoid paying real currency for the sub fees of their farmers. They use cheap labor to fund farmers who only farm gold in game. Unlike a “normal” player those farmers use very little of their gold for in-game gold sinks - they don’t need epic mounts, they don’t need consumables, they don’t pay to re-spec. So their efforts directly drive inflation.

You need to learn what troll means. Not really surprised you don’t know what it means I mean you think tokens are a good thing and all.

I’ve purchased tokens in retail WoW and I’ve used them as you would have expected. I’ve use the gold to buy gear to boost my character up. When I was raiding and was expected to be geared up to heroic ILVL by normal release, I used token gold to get there.

Tokens allow you to boost your character forward.

So in Vanilla WoW how can you do this? You can buy EPIC BoEs, you can buy your epic mount, you can boost professions. You are incentivizing players to farm more gold than they normally would to buy your tokens.

Now… that already exists without tokens. Goldfarmers exist. When you buy gold, they don’t permanently ban you. You get a slap on the wrist. During Vanilla many people bought gold because I saw ads for gold sellers, sometimes with corpses to spell out their websites… so… players still bought BoEs, they still bought their epic mounts, they still boosted professions. They still did it.

Do WoW tokens provide an advantage? Yes. They do. But so do other factors too.

What about playtime? If someone is able to play more than you, isn’t that an advantage?

I don’t want WoW tokens the be in Classic because they weren’t in Vanilla. That should be the discussion. Not “what effect they will have”.

They most certainly did not give you a slap on the wrist. I got banned twice for purchasing gold. Once in vanilla and once in tbc. In vanilla I did it for my first non epic mount. I bought something like 30g idk what it was but I had most of the gold to get it from leveling I just didn’t want to farm. I got my mount, and the rest went to purchasing boe greens that were better gear than mine. A couple days later, I got a 3 day ban. Not bad right? Well when I logged in all my gear was deleted, my mount skill was set back to nothing and my mount was deleted, and money was set to 0.

I was actually further behind form buying that gold. Same happened in tbc. I hit 70, but track was starting so I didn’t have time to run heroics and get gear for raids. Bought gold and purchased some really good crafting gear on my mage. Spellfire(?) I think it was. Same story, 3 day ban, gear wipe, gold wipe. Idk what they do today for gold buyers, but if they do to them today what they did back then it’s not slap on the wrist.

I feel so sorry for the Blizzard WoW team.

They have people like this whinging about the direction the wind blows because it might mean something in their imagination. I wonder how much money he made off of making these strong and controversial suggestions about an unreleased game.

So what you’re saying is “Because I couldn’t cut it, I bought gold and got banned. Give me WoW tokens this time around because I still can’t cut it.”

Got it.

I’m not pro tokens? I’m glad I got banned and I think anyone who does buy gold needs a ban. Christ I think anyone who suggests tokens needs a ban.

You really are swinging and missing a lot today honey bear.

Its hard to tell when you keep providing reasons why tokens are good while attempting to banally insult anyone you can.
