But they are making some mad cash now. That’s the only certainty.
Short term profits for long term profit losses. Exactly the opposite of what M$ is trying to achieve…starting to wonder if there’s some sabotage going on behind the scenes before the acquisition
I think you underestimate the addiction a portion of the population has to pay-to-win. I am willing to wager that this will make them more than CoD. There are plenty of videos showing the amount of whales already in Immortal.
I think this will be long term as long as they carry on updating.
Just hold on to that gold imo! We will likely see these same predatory practices put in WoW when it goes F2P. You’ll need that gold (unless they come out with a new currency) to stay caught up.
Dang you beat me to it. Lmao.
No, because it’ll inflate the token for gold prices which a substantial portion of the remaining playerbase relies on to continue playing. That’s why the daily calling rewards are designed around the average token prices for the past 2 expansions while other methods of obtaining gold have been nerfed into the ground.
You drive those players away, you’re also driving away a substantial portion of the people who’d grind out gold to put into their wallet funds to spend on other Activision Blizzard products, such as Diablo Immortal. You might snag some short term whales, but the majority of whales in WoW are the one’s paying real money to sell tokens for gold. While they’ll be happy in the short term because they’re getting more gold in the short term, THEIR customers will be priced out in that short term. Then the remaining people who are just grinding WoW to spend in another game see THOSE prices spike up, they’ll also stop grinding for gold and jump ship too. Then you end up with a scenario where no one is buying gold with tokens because no one is buying tokens.
This is a very shortsighted drive for short term profits.
You do get that this is a totally different player base now right?
They actually did it right, as much as I hate to give them credit. Opening to the phone market is bringing in more people who don’t even care about using a token to pay with over there.
It’s not shortsighted in the slightest, it’s opening their titles to a new market. Like when they ported Diablo 3 to consoles.
Lol i needed to get wow time for account 2, saw the price, and was like “she has 10 days… ill hold off for now.”
That’s why i noticed the price jump xD
I think you’d be better off just selling a couple of kidneys to buy character power than trying to grind your way to max strength in Diablo Immortal, no matter which grind you choose.
Oh, so… that makes it worse.
I’m not doing the math again, either way, i think we all get the point.
Yup, and it’s taken a page out of Dungeon Keeper Mobile with waiting a day on it’s blocks and said “Hold my beer, imma faceplant upwards the stairs”.
Extremely ironic, given it was EA who went too far with the monetization practices from Blizzard.
Or 10 years for free.
Belluar has did the math. I just did the math off that math.
Hands you a barf bag and pats her shoulder.
We all did Dieliania, we all did.
How many years of drops would it have taken someone to get a full max titanforge with sockets and tertiary stats in every slot in Legion and BFA?
Maybe this is a good thing for people that want to buy gold.
Idk, i’ve never seen that math ever during Legion and BFA.
Oh yeah the peeps getting wow tokens to post on the ah, great time for them.
I may snag one for a realm i just started on to have some gold using bnet balance i had saved.
Correction good sir… max your character out… until they update the game, and they will. Then you start spending money again.
This might be the greediest, scummiest game that has ever existed. I honestly feel bad for anyone that’s associated with it. I feel bad for the people that get trapped into spending money on it, and I feel bad for devs who have to have their names attached to it.
Diablo Immortal was a mistake.
I took care less about fools spending real money on this…
Does this mean wow token prices are down?
I have a recruit a friend account to feed 6 more months to and I’m not using real money
Which is fine you’re entitled to your opinion. But the game is literally designed to take advantage of two groups of people, children and adults with impulse control issues. It’s literally predatory and abusive. This is why I care.
Again, if I was a dev, I would be ashamed to have worked on this product and especially ashamed to have my name attached to it.
I don’t disagree.
But as a parent it would be their job to monitor their Kids Activities.
As an adult you should have a modicum of self control.
I do agree it’s predatory I do agree it’s wrong, But I can’t fix the world other than to disagree with them and not buy the product.
And if somebody ran on a platform making things like this illegal I’d vote for them
Diablo Immortals is just like the movie wargames… The only winning move in not to play.
I bought 3 WoW tokens on DI launch day and blew it all in the shop. I kinda hate the game, tho. It’s been a challenge to work through the collector’s pass to get the stuff I bought lol
It just doesn’t really work that well. The PC port is really jank, and there’s all kinds of weird little details that seem just incorrect. Like the Blood Rose world boss, it can absorb 30 million health from 1 troll sabotaging the fight in suck phase who only got 20k health. Where all that health coming from? It’s just kinda not a great game, even if you ignore paid progression skips.
