Yeah, I remember when I first started playing Hunter (Ancient History). We hunters could use almost all melee weapons available. But that stopped when it was realized that it was way better to shot the enemy from a distance. Those were the days.
But now in time, I’ve come to realize how we Hunters and Magic Users have mistreated so unfairly the honorable Warriors. So sad.
Wow seems to think that it is wise to bring a knife to a gunfight.
But then on the other hand, a solution could be that people couldn’t create Melee characters. Then everyone would be ranged fighters, that would be fair, I guess? Like yeah that would level the playing field.
Well it’s not like you have nothing. For example the Death Knight can pull you in with Death Grip. Then there are magic debuffs to block spells, crowd control, etc. Each spec has something.
That would just make a cloth wearing Warrior get one-shoted. Keep in mind the hunters and and spell casters are some distance away. So then, not only is the Warrior too far away from it’s enemy but then without armor it would be for the ranged classes like shooting fish in a barrel.
It would be like the final scene in the movie “The last Samurai” Where the soldiers using modern rifles and gatling-guns decimated the charging Samurai Warriors. It was a one sided slaughter.
They would probably lose a lot of players, which would mean a lot of money lost, so they will most likely not do this.
Hyboria is a different world entirely, with different rules. Maybe you should try playing Age of Conan on Steam; that might be the style you’re looking for.
Every armor plated bully in history wished the same thing. Ranged weapon were invented specifically to deal with the roving bands of heavily armed “nobles” who would take all your stuff, knock your teeth out and then kick you in the guts for mumbling.
If some random NPC with a question mark over their head asked me to do it in exchange for a few gold and a random piece of gear or something similar, you bet I’d do it.
And any melee warrior who doesn’t know they can close the distance with charge, heroic leap, or heroic throw should be both ashamed and not a warrior.
