WoW Retail crashes on launch - Error #134

Same here. Even started a clean Config.wtf since my older one had quite a bit of configuration info. Same issue: Starts up, initializes screen around the edges, then crashes out with crash reporter.

That is being investigated, it should not have happened for sure. they absolutely don’t need to be using avx2

I’m lucky coffee lake has avx2, so my intel cpu isn’t having the crash.

Tried the config.wtf edit. Not getting an immediate crash, but game just… hanging and not opening.

Very frustrating. WoW has consistently been one of the few major MMOs that supports Mac players, but that support has been increasingly thin.

The fact that we’re on the second day after release and there has been absolutely zero communication from the devs on major issues stopping mac players from even getting into the game is… disappointing, to say the least.

mine hung for about 20-30 seconds and then i saw the wow icon in dock and clicked it, and it took me to the character screen

Mine hung for a lot longer (30+ minutes), but I was able to get in directly bypassing the launcher.

There seems to be a major issue with fullscreen vs windowed mode- the game was hanging really badly in fullscreen, but works OK now that it’s windowed.

Hey all,

Just chiming in here to say we’re aware of the issue with the intro cinematic causing a crash on launch for certain older Mac models. Our WoW team is investigating and working on a fix.

Thanks to Omegal for providing a workaround earlier in the thread. If you have any trouble locating the config.wtf file you can get to it easily by opening the Battle.net app, click on Options (next to the Play button), then Reveal in Finder. Open the World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF folder to find config.wtf. Then change SET playIntroMovie to "10" and save the file, then re-launch via the Play button.

If you haven’t seen the Dragonflight intro cinematic already and would like to view it out of game, it can be found on Youtube here.

Fixed!!!

SET playIntroMovie “10” – got me into the game for the first time since patch.

Have done just that and no changes. It’s still crashing. Will hold out hope for a fix. I am submitting the crash reports for each crash so you guys should have that info sent to you.

I’m up to date on everything for my M1 Macbook Air and I’ve been getting the loading screen before being d/c’d. I was able to play last night when the servers went up. I will mention I have wow on a separate hard drive.

Created the config.wtf file which got me as far as asking for region then a black screen (waited in anticipation) then error.

That’s where I’m at. I made a new ‘config.wtf’ file in WTF & added the workaround text but the game won’t load far enough I think.

You don’t name it Config.wtf, you change the file extension to wtf from txt.
Go to Finder-> Preferences-> Advanced and then click the box that says ‘Show File Extensions’
That’ll let you see the txt that needs to be changed to wtf

Me too- I had the exact same issue.

Jesus Christ, after I got into the game using the above’s example, setting the variable to 10, I had 37 in-game crashes in 1 hour. Even if I stood still in a place no players were seen, I still crashed. Just went to my Error folder and found 37 error files.

Thank you! This really helped a lot! I am not as skilled in the Mac environment as I should be.

I got in… finally. Everything sort of okay, tho the interface seems a little messed. Really wanted to be chilling w Halloween content rn. Thanks all for the help.

What did you do specifically? none of the fixes has worked for me.

Appreciate that you shared the fix Omegal! Works great.

I reinstall and don’t have a config.wtf file at all. Is there something I can copy paste over that’ll get me going?

still getting 6B1B746B-8F06-4DA7-BDFE-A99AD76AB55A error
