WoW Retail crashes on launch - Error #134

Um, it’s not fact that we’re all on 10.15. I’m on 12.6.1. Seems to me there’s quite a range here.

Absolutely spot on!

I’ll throw my hat in the ring here. Mac Pro Trashcan (2013) running latest OS possible (12.6.1)

I did all the remove cache / wtf, scan, rebuild battle.net, etc. Crashes before any graphics are displayed once launched from battle.net app.

I’m not going to back seat code here but these machines have a funky GPU setup and I see some shader errors.

Anyway, here is the gx.log:

your 10.15 theory dosent work we are a lot on 12.6 that the game is crashing so move on to an other option to resolve the problems

The sad part about this is that this was happening on BETA. I got invited to BETA and was never able to play. Once they updated PTR it started happening there as well. My biggest fear has come true. Here we are pre-patch and yup, no go now I can’t launch the game. Maybe Blizzard you can invest in more QA folks instead of cleaning them out for more devs. Maybe test Mac before you release crap. Unbelievable!

Same here. I’ve submitted a ticket. Is everyone else seeing a “Crash Summary: ERROR #134 (0x85100086)” error in the …/World of Warcraft/retail /Logs/gx.log file?

The cause was found, it’s playing cut scenes on older CPUs that’s causing it. They are aware of it and have a post going up soon, in mean time I was provided with this work around

open config in wtf folder and add or modify this line
SET playIntroMovie "10"

basically the cinematics are playing with missing cpu instruction set. This was missed in beta/ptr because the cinematic wasn’t enabled on the beta/ptr. It’s pretty standard for blizzard to only package the cinematic with release build. So again, edit config to basically say “I’ve seen the cinematic already don’t play it” and you’ll get in game. that said, avoid other cinematics while in game until a new build goes out that fixes issue

That works a treat, @Omegal, thank you very much!!

Confirmed. This worked on my late-2012 iMac. As I reinstalled, I didn’t have a Config.wtf file, so I just created one and added this line. Thanks for the tip!

oh hey wow that worked for me, thanks so much Omegal!

I tried a fresh install last night so there’s nothing in my WTF folder. Can anyone tell me how to make a wtf file to paste in?

“old CPUs”, lol.

i thought it has nothing to do with moving to ARM?

i should let readers know that mine was set to:

SET playIntroMovie “9”

and it did not work.

so it must be 10 for the fix to work.

i have no idea why you guys are enabling far-more recent SSE or AVX extensions for a video, but i am not going to ask.

Crashes for me and im on Windows

use textedit and make a new textfile in the WTF directory

then put in the line he’s suggested

save it

then rename the .txt to .wtf and it should ask you “are you sure you want to do this” and sya yes.

Great! so as of the prepatch, I am completely lockout of the game because every time I try to launch it it crashes. Judging from the replies here, Most Mac users are having the same issue. Any Blue post???
no?

Are you going to fix this “Game breaking issue”? Or are you trying to chase Mac users off of the game?

Mac user here. Purchased The new DragonFlight. Pre-release content crashes on log in on char. page. Non stop. Was doing beta did not have this problem. Scans have been done. Still crashed 2 days now.

Hi Sir,

Now I can get into the game, but keeps on crashing in Epic BGs like Wintergrasp, I have 6 crashes within 3 minutes.
