Wow Quests have become too long and complicated

I mean this is basically the questing style of cataclysm which came out 11 years ago and I could describe as “back in day”. OP never specified that he started in the classic era.

ANYWAY I don’t think quest now are complicated. I do think for shadowlands they got briefly very annoying and seemed to do everything in their power to slow you down. But they’re actually more interesting on DF at least.

What some of you “It’s very easy people” are not saying is that these days to finish a quest line you all go to online 3d party quest guide websites to figure out what you are supposed to do, where you are supposed to go, where the hidden NPCs are etc.

no i dont LMFAO and i still think quests are incredibly easy and simple. I literally have 3 addons installed. DBM, weakauras, and details damage meter.

This is you trying to cope, “other people cant possibly be better at quests than me, they must be cheating” buddy hate to break it to you but apparently you are just incredibly bad at the game.

Wow quests are incredibly simple and i still read this as “making cereal is complicated” Its literally Pick quest up → do what quest says → hand in quest. ??? what the hell how can anyone construe this as convoluted or complicated.

They further simplify it by making it so quest objectives are highlighted.

they further simplify it by making it so mobs that are the target or drop the target of quest objectives tell you so when you hover your mouse over them

they further simplify it by highlighting the areas you find quest objectives in when its that kind of quest (if they dont, they specifically tell you what to do. Literally never wondered what to do)

they further simplify finding quests by adding relative elevation markers for quest objectives and quest npcs.

they further simplify it by having quest givers in hubs tell you where to go to find quest chains in the open world. For example, you dont actually need to stumble upon the hotsprings quest chain in dragonflight. Theres a quest NPC in valdraken that tells you its there if you talk to her. almost all quest chains are discoverable by actually being told where to go. They also often direct you to a new quest chain at the end of another quest chain.

Literally the only thing ive ever had to google was how to get to argus during shadowlands.

Quest location design have been pretty straightforward from a long time. You go to a hub with 5 or more quest givers and those quests usually send you to places where you will find more quests to pick on the way (either by finding another quest giver or the quest activating automatically once you enter the area) with rares and events sprinkled on the way.

I don’t know why some people are pretending as if like Blizzard doesn’t do that anymore, infact they have been making it easier. The only addon I use is Opie.

Oh, no no no. If you started back then, it was loot 15 rabbit hearts and 1 in 5 rabbits had a heart.

Honestly reads like someone that doesn’t actually play the game.

Well the majority of players do in actuality resort to online quest guides and third party add-ons to help them including Youtube Guides and Forum help. So that is an indicator that the quests are convoluted and hard to understand.

Ps: It’s unfortunate you feel that you must cast aspersions in order to make your points.

Rose-colored glasses. There were a lot of quests like that in vanilla. The freakin goblin quests. Samoflange, or whatever. I would always skip those quests. I skipped any quest that needed some kind of item I needed to interact with. There were actually a lot of them. I hated them.

While there are a lot of those in retail right now, once you understand the basic mechanics of how one works, you realize they’re all pretty much the same, and it’s not that big of deal.

I mean I could do without them completely, but I’m sure that would result on people complaining about how every quest is exactly the same and they need to spice it up a bit with different mechanics.

They probably can’t win with this issue.

Right? We should be able to just have the quest objectives appear next to us so we can just press buttons without having to traipse around. Waste our precious, beautiful time doing stuff? PSHAW!

Yea… thotbot lol

Reminds me of good old Star Wars Galaxies lol

PS its unfortunate you think you know what the majority of players do, in an effort to cope with your own shortcomings.

You know how I know for a fact that they are easy and simple? because ive done thousands of them and never once thought they were anything but easy or simple.

Not really quests, but I have noticed they have started to over-complicate world quests. Even when I would look up how to do them on Wowhead, the text explanation wasn’t enough and I always had to end up watching the video provided for some of these world quests.

Our back in the day must have been different periods. My back in the day was do this quest here, turn it in, get another quest that is in THE EXACT SAME PLACE, turn it in… oh look let’s go back to the same place I was just at for a THIRD time… wash rinse repeat.

Oh my god. I forget Dreini or w/e exist.

You ever just miss the old… go kill this and collect this. It’s in this general area…good luck! xD

Speaking like someone who never quested in Icecrown

Literally nothing has changed. Even the more ‘advanced’ quests that have several parts are like this.

You even get shiny points, areas cut out where mobs are, an arrow on the map. Nothing has changed. In fact… its easier xD
I got loremaster 4 days after xpac went live.

people read quests? O_o

In seriousness it doesn’t bother me. I like getting distracted with the side quests that they dump on me and finishing out an entire zone.

Actually it was more like

  • Go get me 10 rabbit ears.
  • After killing 30 rabbits you only have 7 ears somehow.

And also…

  • Go look by the weird shaped rock for this thing for me. Where is it? (Points in general direction) Over there somewhere. Good luck

  • 3 zones and 4 days later: Ohhhh that rock

This too

Vague? Nah, “loot grass at the graveyard in Duskwood.” Kay, “checks map.” Raven Hill it is! (gets there no grass to loot.) “Thottbot” no moron the graveyard to the far southeast hidden in a valley next to a destroyed church, with ghouls.

I forget the number, but that quest was burned into my mind from back then, need like 10 livers, “kills 231 boars.” “2/10 livers” “cries.”

You are projecting your own shortcomings. Oh well nothing new about that.
