Is the Discord for The WoW Portal Room ran by Blizzard?

I think it is their official discord server, so potentially yes? Either that or they have players managing it for them. Here’s the announcement:

I got kicked from it, likely due to bot detection software. I just logged in as a lurker a few weeks back and noticed it is gone now.

It’s really no big deal. I use a dedicated WoW only Discord account. Just reenlisted on it. I got no message saying I was banned or removed so assuming it was false automation causing it.

Well, in the past there have been a number of experiments on the part of Blizzard on what might be termed “player relations”. I’ll still be curious how this will turn out, how busy it will be and how useful to players.

Blizzard does not have the same type of player relations compared to Broadsword (SWTOR) or Standing Stone Games (LOTRO). The Warcraft apparatus is just too big to manage so the player base is left to self manage.

I am not comparing with other games. I’m talking about things like forum mvp’s, the council forum, and earlier attempts that have been spoken of over the years. I would include the new player chat as one of these attempts.

Like the WoW Community Council? I know it is still there but seems to be defunct.

It’s a discord server intended to help new or returning players.

I mean, besides the Portal Room whose portals we use daily.

You’re from an RP server too! My reasoning is I would rather the userbase not to be associated with only one main character keeping each character unique in the online space.

Didn’t know of this and find it bizarre. They should work on fixing their game first. Like fixing the kazillion existing bugs and releasing updates that are more or less bug free.

I would rather go back to a 2 year expansion release cycle, maybe even 2.5 years. Content is spewed out so fast, there is not enough time to look at it all. If the content runs out, just play something else for a few months. Rather have quality over quantity any day.

I don’t think the people running the discord are the same people working on the game software.

but you never know.
