I like it how I was pronouncing it better too. I always pronounced it like Tyr-awnd. The real way sounds like Lafawnduh from Napoleon Dynamite.

I have no accent and that’s how I say it. I always called it SL7 and not Si7. Idk why, i just did.

I’ve always emphasized the second E in Gnomeregan: no-mer-EH-gan. I know it’s wrong. I don’t care.

I’ve never been clear on whether it’s EE-rel, IR-el, YUH-rel, or something else. I mostly use the last because it’s not like she’s even in this game any more. (Poor draenor draenei, a bunch of gold-tattooed cousins show up and we forget all about them.)

Oh, and of course there’s the French-derived names for the Nightborne. It’s not that they’re wrong or anything, it’s just that they’re French.

In my head, I always pronounce it like it has a Y instead of J, which I think is mostly right and is as much effort as I’m inclined to give in any case.

Except when I’m feeling silly and then I call them the valor-in-a-jars.

Everyone has an accent. That flat “no accent” sound that some people have is still an accent.

Anyway, I’m usually pretty good about hitting the pronunciations on the nose. The only example I can really think of where I had it badly wrong was a town in Morrowind, Pelagiad.

I said “pell-uh-gade.” Turns out it is “pih-law-ji-add.” Sounds neat, but it was good ol’ peluhgade for 10+ years.

I don’t have an accent. Everyone else just doesn’t sound Southern.

I’m one of those that “don’t have an accent” but it’s only because almost everybody here in north texas have heavy southern accents.

Whereas I always misread that name completely and said it “Pelagrad” as if it was a town in russia…

I know I’m gonna get the spelling wrong but there was an alliance quest in LK where the quest giver was making fun of the people in Gjaelerbron (sp?) saying they pronounced it Shalerbron. It reminded me of JK Rowling adding the bit in Goblet of fire with Hermione explaining the pronunciation of her name because readers had no clue.

My friend and I say Orgimmar wrong… and still do.

We finally heard it correctly from some npc goblin and were shocked… but its too late now.

I always pronounced it “Fahrvergnügen” in my head even though I knew that wasn’t right.

I also can’t smelt metal without thinking “I’m smelting!” in my Wicked Witch of the West voice so maybe I’m not right. :crazy_face:

Huh, I look at that town-name and immediately think it should be called Pel-AY-Giad, the the stress on the A since it looks like it was named after the Mad Emperor Pelagius and would be pronounced in a similar fashion.

I pronounce everything correctly and Queen Azshara pronouncing Nazjatar wrong was a shame. Just go play a Naga Sea Witch in Warcraft 3 and have her attack something…

One of the realms that is linked to the one I play on is Agamaggan. (Also the pig boss guy in RFD) When it first got linked with us I gave up immediately and just referred to it as Agamagagagama (continue for as long as it takes to get the point across of what you’re talking about to the person). “Ya know… that pig from RFD… Agamamahgagagmagag… that one.”

After a few years I did eventually learn the correct pronunciation, but it’s still more fun my way.

I’ve always said it Gnome-air-uh-gon. Safest bet is just to call it Gnomer.
