You actually don’t have to fly. You can favorite all your ground-only mounts and play that way. Feel free!
Wrong. Flying was a purposeful addition to the game.
“ World of Warcraft is meant to be played from the ground” is just code for “Blizzard design practice is lazy and the easiest way to fix this is to delete flight”
Having to wade through mobs every ten feet to walk from point A to point B is not cutting edge design and it certainly isn’t fun. Getting constantly knocked off your mount is also neither fun nor compelling.
The maw is the penultimate example of terrible design and Ion’s view of a perfect zone.

Flying is god mode instant gratification that removes the world from wow
They don’t introduce flying until later in the xpac so you’re still forced to do all your exploring on the ground. So all of those “exploring” debate points these people are making are moot.

This makes me sad to hear.
I enjoyed Korthia much more than Zereth’Mortis due to Korthia having no flying
But why would that make your experience better?
Don’t like flying? Then don’t fly.
Leave it to those of us that do like flying. Besides, we don’t get it until the zones and quest have been cleared out.
Good question. I feel it’s too easy to avoid a lot of the content you were meant to see or do when there’s the ability to fly (IMO)
Not that I’m bashing dragonriding in particular
I feel like this is the fundamental opinion difference that keeps this conversation coming back. When I play, I just want to do my quests, I don’t want to deal with 10 mob packs on the way to my quest. I think some people like dealing with that, but there are a lot of us that wish we didn’t have to.
There are times when flying can be appreciated for sure
I feel like if they made the world more interesting, I would be fine with it being a ground game. If there were interesting random events, or there was more to mobs than them just standing around waiting to gank me/be killed by me. The world itself is usually just not captivating enough for me to want to deal with irrelevant mobs.
Edit: It also doesn’t help that the majority of the zones we went too last expansion I thought were ugly as hell, but that’s a personal opinion.

I’m aware of like - how ridiculous a request it would be -
But at the same time,
It’d be really cool to see everyone on the road again.
I’d also compromise for a much lower height cap - i.e you can only fly as high as the classic gryphons could.
As much as I love flying you are 100% correct. When we are grounded there is a much greater sense of community and the world feels lived in. I gave up the argument as you will never silence the flyer rage mob around here but you’re objectively correct as far as I am concerned.
Nobody fights their way through mobs. Everyone rolls around as a tank or with a barding so they can’t be dazed. There is no danger left in the world when you can round up a group of mobs and AoE them down and remain at over 50% health when you’re done.
Oh and world PvP is heinously overrated by this playerbase. If you want it, it’s still there. But most people don’t.
