Same here. M4 MAX MacBook Pro. Classic Era launches fine. Trying to launch from terminal gives me:
The application cannot be opened for an unexpected reason, error=Error Domain=RBSRequestErrorDomain Code=5 “Launch failed.” UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=Launch failed., NSUnderlyingError=0x60000308c0f0 {Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=153 “Unknown error: 153” UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Launchd job spawn failed}}}
Edit… and repairing fixed the issue.

Worked for me as well – thank you to those who pointed us to scan and repair, a function that, I, as a 18 year WoW player, had no clue existed.

Running Scan & Repair
I knew it existed but I did not think of scan and repair until I looked here. Hope it works.
EDIT - Confirming Scan and Repair worked for me.

same problem here since today…
I appreciated the scan and repair tip from the commenters. It worked for me as well (iMac Pro 2017). To find the scan and repair option, its located to the right of the PLAY button when you click on the cogwheel shaped “Settings” icon.

I had the same thing. Played last night and was all fine. Went to launch it today - wouldn’t open from launcher or direct from the App. Started the Repair and Scan then thought I’d check the forums while it was doing that incase it didn’t fix it - to find this thread as well. But thankfully the scan and repair fixed it by the time I was reading the forums,…hehe. So at least that fix works.

Having the same issue. Ran a Scan & Repair twice and was still not getting it to launch after hitting play. Decided to close out Battle.net launcher and wait roughly 5 minutes. Launches perfectly now.
Mac mini M4
Scan and repair cogwheel next to the play button.
Same on my iMac. It crashes as soon as I hit play. Trying scan/repair.
…still scanning game files…
Same issue on MacBook Pro
