Dude I have a mansion, that’s why I know the housing system in ff14 is dogsht. You can have the best of a system and still realize that a system has flaws with features that are locked from the rest of the player population
you cant cuss out the best housing system in mmos on the forums
Because it would cost money. And somewhere there is a bean counter doing a cost analysis on whether or not a massive revamp of a 20 year old game is worth investing that amount of money and work hours into. At the moment, analysis says “nope”.
U literally highlighted a huge flaw on housing, a steaming pile with a bow on it and spray painted gold is still a steaming pile.
People lobbying for player housing in wow suddenly get ff14 apartments with limited customization and features. It would be a shtshow
instanced housing is the type of housing wow players want
Garrison were that and it was considered a failure
i love my garrison housing complex
I have never seen so many people willingly defend mediocrity and make excuses that can’t hold beneath their own weight.
None of the things you mentioned make a good game.
Yes, they do. Nearly every other MMORPG has these features, which WoW lacks. WoW is lacking in features that other MMORPGs enjoy. WoW continues to grow more stale with each passing expansion that doesn’t try to be competitive in terms of features in comparison to other MMORPGs.
WoW has housing already.
No it doesn’t. Garrisons are not player housing.
It would require too much effort to implement the things you mentioned.
Okay, then accept that WoW will inevitably grow stale and lack in features which other MMORPGs offer, and continue allowing the game to fall in popularity (has been occuring since WoTLK). OR, perhaps, advocate for Blizzard, a multi-billion dollar studio, to put some effort into their biggest game’s features.
The path forward is quite simple. Adapt or die. Yes, WoW offers a solid gameplay experience in terms of dungeons, raiding and levelling. They’ve got that mastered, almost. But if this is all they strive for, then I dread to think of the sheer mediocrity that the next 3 expansions will be.
big orc hug
gives Fuzzbutt a pina colada with a silly straw, vulpera biscuits and a Snickers bar
Are you willing to wait 5 or so years for them to develop what you want? Will the content drought be worth a number of QoL additions? I doubt that. What you’re suggesting may kill it before the staleness does.
Like I said, you represent the arrogance of this fandom. Maybe play those other MMOs that you say is better instead.
Think ‘engine limitation’…this game aint no spring chicken
Maybe another game is more your thing…ESO has some of that list.
Yes and no.
No, not like ESO housing.
Yes, it IS our own little spot in the game. A couple of the ESO ‘houses’ are more like big areas that could be a ‘garrison’ kind of thing.
Im for player housing, but lets stop pretending that we have nothing akin to it already.
I’d LOVE to see armor dying but sadly it’ll never happen.
Again…twenty year old game. TWO years is an enternity where tech advancement is concerned. 20 years may as well be from the dawn of time.
yeah, just do what they already do…add a few options to the dropdown list.
I dont need 1000 tiny variables from a slider…just give me 3 body shapes to choose from…thin, medium and heavy, for ALL of the races. A chubby little Vulpera sounds kinda cool
That would really be a furball
Would I take those things if they added them to the game? Sure I like new stuff.
Is not having those things going to make me or others quit? Nope!
Could Blizzard put in the effort to make them?
Of course they could.
Is having those things going to bring in enough extra players and/or revenue to be worth the cost to add them?
Not even close.
Does not having those things make wow not competitive in the MMO market?
Lol no.
And that’s why this request will never be done regardless of if I support it or not. Call me a shill or a white knight for Blizzard or whatever you want, but it just be that way
I’ll admit that I have no clue how game development works, and I’m betting you don’t either. I sincerely doubt that QoL additions will take up 5 years of development time that allow 0 room for content enough to cause a drought. Stop being dramatic.
I keep seeing this argument throughout the thread. I can’t speak for others. but I’ll say that I want WoW to be better. Dragonriding was ripped from Guild Wars 2, and I think that’s great. Sure, I can play GW2 to have a better mount system, but I don’t want to do that - I want WoW to borrow things from other MMOs to make the game I enjoy playing the most better. Does that make sense?
Side note: I’m totally glad it didn’t take them 5 years to implement dragonriding, and I’m also glad that during the time they were developing that, Blizzard so graciously gave us raids, because, wow, dragonriding must have taken up like 95% of their resources.
I can sort of see this sentiment. I actually like garrisons, but I wouldn’t consider it player housing. It’s a secluded instance out in an Alien world with no incentive to really go there and hang out in a group setting. Housing is more about customization and an expression of the player’s vision. Most garrisons look the same, and I wouldn’t invite my friends over to admire my cookie cutter base.
I think it does. Personally, it wouldn’t affect me if any of this stuff was added because I just enjoy playing the game for the merit of simply playing it, but there’s a reason these features exist. Armor dyes on its own probably wouldn’t sell someone on a game, but dyes, housing AND idle animations? I can imagine a person who likes customization would have more incentive to try out the game. It’s just another thing to keep people playing and engaged. The main sell of WoW is M+ and raiding, but if there’s a player who gets bored of those things, maybe they’ll dabble into other features. I’d argue that’s the stuff that gets people in longer and can even sell newer players, which, let’s be honest, WoW could definitely use.
Dyes are never gonna be a thing due to how difficulty tints and recolors work.
I’m character customization slider challenged… I hate them. I pretty much always use a randomizer until I like something because whenever I use sliders, my character ends up looking like some inbred Jed…
This would be nice but I expect it would require revamping all the armour assets in the game and may just be too much of a lift. The effort would likely be better spent adding newer HD armours with cool 3D assests.
Yes to these… get it done Blizz…
