Why would you fear this? Its just a video game, its not that big of a deal. It has no impact on your life whatsoever.
It wonât be a thing. Because hereâs the reality of it ⌠what would it be?
A new MMO? Ainât happening as long as WoW is around, and if it ainât around anymore⌠why would a second version of something which died of old age work?
WoW is still going strong as the king of traditional MMOs. Because it is doing it is own thing and not doing that many modern things really. It is just a good game that has been the same thing it has been for the past 20 years, effectively, and with new updates every so often that really changes how it is played ⌠but just not the core gameplay aspect of the game.
If that no longer works, then why would WoW 2 work?
At that point, if Blizzard wanted to make another MMO ⌠they would just make a new one without any of the baggage of WoW.
They have already stated that WoW is going to continue after the Worldsoul Saga and thereâs no reason to think itâd stop after that.
I doubt there will be a WoW 2. There might be Warcraft 4, but not another WoW.
Reading between the lines I think that people want more realistic art style - Azeroth through the lens of Skyrim. Not a different play style. And you canât achieve that with the current engine. From there, redesigning everything from the ground will be a massive effort - which means money needed. Conclusion - not expecting WoW 2. Why do people want WoW 2? Who the playerbase is - the millennials. The millennials are now grown ups and as such require more realism. Player housing, anyone? The Disney like art style was appealing and held until their teenage years which ended approximately around 2013. And then WoD came out. Maybe if AI advances further and new instruments are developed that can recreat such game worlds for newer graphics on the fraction of the cost, maybe weâll get more realism. Otherwise no one will invest recreating a 20 year old game.
Yeah, and that worked well.
And yet something that gets rehashed that is inherently a bad idea. Would you jump off a bridge if someone told you to do so multiple times?
WoW 2 would be a bad business decision. It will not happen.
No to WOW 2 at all. The biggest selling point of retail WOW are the collections. Thereâs no way they would be able to do a WOW 2 and allow us to keep those pixels we collected. It would have to be a completely stand alone item like WOW classic is for it to work. Otherwise youâre just doing another expansion on the existing set up.
Heroes of the Storm RPG would be amazing.
On the contrary, I think a WoWII would be awesome, with updated engine, graphics, and all the modern bells and whistles, though admittedly itâs probably not an economically viable idea at this time.
I think we all recall hundreds and hundreds of threads that were subsequently always shot down, about a Classic WoWâŚ
One can always dreamâŚunless they have a heart of stone that isâŚ
First, thank you for a reasonable thought out response.
Blizzard made classic because it was to fight the loss they were getting economically from private servers.
If they did make a WoW 2 not only would they be rewriting all old codes to match up with the new system but new codes for new content as well. And who knows if our characters would transfer over. Years of work just for a new version? Doubt theyâre going to put that much work on their development team.
Not only do I not fear this, it HAS to happen for everyone without exception otherwise itâs not WoW 2, it would just be another xpack.
WoW 2 needs to be entirely fresh.
WoW 1 would still be around because many people would stick to their stuff, but not much support would go into it from blizzard and there would definitely not be any more new content. It would also go free to play and be plagued by the even worse kind of players than what you see right now.
But I donât think any of this will ever happen. We are more likely to see WoW 1 continue and get ported to a better engine before they make WoW 2.
Youâre in for a shock when you notice what the current patch is.
And if you live in Oceania, your rent just went up lmao
I could see the possibility of a WoW2 possibly after The Last Titan as that is currently the most logical place for it. If they did I would hope that they use Unreal to build it and I would hope for a character copy from WoW too WoW2. But seeing as how they havenât done it yet chances are it wonât happen.
I response to people saying TBC was WoW2, no it was WoW1 version 2 and if you really want to go the weâve already had WoW2 route then Cata was WoW2, Legion was WoW3, and DF started WoW4. But we are actually in WoW1 v11.
Yeah I agree we are in WoW1 - v11 hence why we are in patch 11.0
If it were a new game, each new game would start at 1.0.
it would be pretty awesome to be in a goblin sub as a night elf ghost snipping diablo from 300 meters too! hehhe
side note, its funny that i started doing BFA and azshra (spelling) boss looks really close to lilith in diablo 4 already.
Iâd prefer a complete reset. There are way, way, way too many collectibles in the game for any of them to have any value at this point.
I also think if the devs had a new engine to design the game and game world it would allow them to create content that is a bit more engaging outside of group content and combat that is more exciting not because We have 57 buttons to press as fast as humanely possible, but because we can actually roll and dodge attacks etc etc.
I expect WoW 1 to exist alongside WoW 2 by the way, so no you wonât lose your 780 mounts and 999,999,999,999,999 battle pets and 9.9x10^99999 transmogs
If it were to to allow us to keep our characters and collections, it wouldnât be WOW 2 ⌠it just be a revamped version of the current game.
I doubt many players would be interested in the starting from scratch in the same game world. It would have to be an entirely new game and not progression of the existing IP.
All I know is if my characters donât transfer over to whatever new game that would be, then I would be done with WoW.
