WoW Holidays are terrible

What a run-on sentence!

Agreed that holidays need a little love.

I mean the hearthstones are nice and all but not nearly enough to motivate me to keep playing them.

Okay except Halloween. I love the Headless Horseman

translation: I won’t do anything unless there is a tangible reward to flaunt.

Good thing in Shadowlands that won’t be an issue

i only devoted to them for the violet drake just before it became account-wide (four characters). afterward, i have ground out holiday currency just for heirloom upgrade tokens

The only thing I find strange is that, neither Horde or Alliance have their own Holidays.

Like the celebration when the Alliance killed Onyxia, or the anniversary when DW was killed or stuff like that.

You’ve interpreted the OP’s post in a way that indicates he had nothing constructive to say, which is untrue. He not only didn’t say he hated the in-game holidays, but suggested the developers “try anything”, and he’d be willing to give it a go…and he’s right. For the most part, Blizzard puts very little effort into making them seem fresh, and something to look forward to with much excitement.

Yawnfest…

They could do what other games do and add new quests and items to them every year. I remember back when I was playing EQ2, every holiday we would get new items ranging from furniture, to mounts, to crafting recipes, etc. We would also get new quests. They would expand them every year. Made me look forward to holidays just to see what new things they would let us play through/earn.

Edit: I remember the Halloween where they added the vampire themed haunted house. I must have ran through that a million times to get multiples of a housing mirror that was really good for making glass walls. The mirror was made of a kinda mist effect, and it looked great in a lot of housing projects.

People complaining about micro holidays being pointless are everything that is wrong with this game’s community.

Well, I’ve thought about this a lot, actually.

I burned myself out on the holidays in WoW back when the “What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” achievement was first offered in Wrath. I spent that year doing the whole thing for the drake, and I was spent. Having played since Vanilla and seen all of the holidays and done all of the things…I missed being able to enjoy them.

Honestly, what’s needed for pretty much all of them is simple updating. Just a refresher.

We’ve had the same offerings each year since the beginning. Give us some new cosmetics to work for:

New dresses.
New outfits.
New mounts.

Give us new achievements with catchy new titles
Give us new toys that do different things
For heaven’s sake, do something to change up the holiday boss encounters.
Honestly, I think a raid that’s only available during Winter Veil would be AMAZING. Two bosses, Winter Veil-themed gear that’s good-looking or somehow fun (no ilvl or player power…just fun) with a chance at a new high-rez mount. Maybe a reindeer sleigh that seats multiple people? Something.

This is what needs to happen. They need to just refresh them. You don’t have to go back to the drawing board or erase everything and start over. Add…don’t subtract. Know what I mean?

edited to add: and OMG we’re going to Shadowlands, so there is EVERY reason to do cool stuff with Day of the Dead. Right?

Most of my holidays achievements are at least a decade old. It’s just boring content now.

I like most of the holidays overall, but especially the summer and halloween events because you can run alts around and get xp. Having played since BC, I don’t want them to change, just add more to them.
More quests, more mogs, more themed weapons that we keep after the event is over. Maybe a few pets, or a new mount to work towards during that period. Long ago I was bummed when I’d log in with my main hoping there would be something new, a new achiev or something and it was all the same stuff with nothing new to do. I would never ask them to change things as they are, just add to it, that’s all I ask, personally.

It’s more “Cmon you can totally do better” than straight up complaining.

The best holiday in the game is a micro holiday.

Trial of Style, baby :sunglasses:

Are you talking about the Pirate Day one and the hot air balloons?

So great that Blizz chose that holiday to sneak in that Ethereal npc that also shows up around the void elves. Figures all the interesting lore is the stuff they sorta sneak in like the ethereals in Horrific Visions

I will accept that. They could be better, but some are still fun for what they are.

Excuse me? Fashion week is the best micro holiday.

Do like a lot of other games and change things up every year?

FFXIV does this and it’s great. They have the same holidays every year but the events and rewards are different. One year the christmas event had you delivering gifts to NPCs, another had you fighting snowmen, another had you directing a chorus in a rhythm mini-game, etc. Same holiday, but new quests and rewards every year.
