To far a head in what regard? They are clearing seeing content that others do not, they definitely have higher quality gear then people not doing it. I can say, I will never see Mythic Jaina in this expansion, would I like to? Of course. Is it for the gear? Of course not. It’s because its the highest level of performance, outside of pvp, this game required to complete. That is the reward. Gear just provides ways to make it less painful over time for people that can’t dedicate 30 hours a week.

Creating a challenge is not a tax. If you do anything in game for gear alone, you should stop playing the game.

People ask what changed in the WoW development philosophy well it is pretty obvious. I use what I follow daily and easily can associate it with WoW.

Blizzard got blamed for appealing to casuals in Wrath with welfare epics and I supported that system as it gave people a door to see the content then the nerfs came.

Never before was gear just thrown at you. There was always a Time + Difficulty vs Reward equation done to determine how accomplished a player was. Players were respected for this and would sit in the main cities just logged in to show off their characters.

Those players were followed by everyone and their specs were copied. Now you run Darkshore and get lucky and tada that guys time invested in now meaningless.

The MMO has shifted to far to the right with trying to appeal to equalize everyone they are alienating their community.

I did try having a discussion, she asked a question and i answered and then was threatened with flagging because she didn’t like my answer and assumed I was trolling.

The only problem I see with Wrath is that they started giving dungeon drops the purple text. It should have stayed blue for psychological reasons. The issue was when we shifted into Cata and they went from achieving a very good balance between catering to both casuals and hardcore to catering to just casuals.

Not saying “this discussion” shouldn’t be happening. I’m saying it shouldn’t be happening under the conflation of phat lewtz to real world sociopolitical systems that control nations. :man_shrugging:

It isn’t socialism. Socialism is, here’s a bunch of free stuff. Time invested isn’t free.
Or socialism is were taking a bunch of raiding gear that raiders have earned, and just giving it to the non raiders. That’s not happening either.
There is multiple ways to earn decent gear. That’s actually capitalism. You’re arguing for a single dictatorship way to earn gear. No one wants to live in your communist world friend.

On top of all this, it is incredibly hard, and mind bending slow to earn decent gear past 370 and not raid. You act like it’s falling off the truck and it isn’t. There are multiple ways to earn the gear,but you’re lucky to get one upgrade a week without raiding.
