WoW Forever does not launch

When clicking the Play button for WoW Forever in the BNet launcher, the button will momentarily display “Launching” before returning to “Play”, and nothing happens thereafter. No crash, nothing but silent failure to launch. Here are all the things I have tried, to no success:

  • Ended all BNet/WoW processes in task manager, and restarted launcher
  • Ran BNet as administrator
  • Launched executables directly from folder as administrator
  • Rebooted PC
  • Scanned and repaired installation
  • Fully reinstalled the game
  • Added WoW and BNet as exceptions to Windows Defender Firewall
  • Updated drivers

I tested the game on another PC and it launched fine there, so it seems to be related to perhaps a local setting, however I have never had an issue launching any other game, so it seems to be something uniquely interacting between my local setup and this game. Is anyone else encountering this issue and found a solution?

Defender usually does not block wow from running that I am aware of. Does one pc have extra software, like Citrix, and does that PC meet the requirement to run as noted in In Development > WoW: Forever Beta Discussion .

Shouldn’t be any extra software, definitely no Citrix. And this PC’s specs are far beyond those required for something like WoW, I play UE5 games on it no problem.

Click here to show/hide DxDiag report instructions
  1. Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.

  2. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.

  3. Name the file dxdiag and click Save.

After you have the report:

My virus protection keeps bocking Pastebin as malicious. Sry as Phishing

I would recommend a new thread describing this issue.

Start with that, if it is blocking a website, it can block a .exe

A new thread for the original issue?

I do not think you are Rustymoon? That was who it was meant for.

Was not sure if you were responding generally with the above line, then to Rusty with the below line.

was going though the list again, now getting i have the wrong version downloaded, doing a scan and repair, will be a while. Had this when launching from folder.

im having same problem

The errors are GPU timeouts, meaning the driver crashed.

Have you tried starting Windows with no background apps? You have lots of stuff that uses overlays and could be interfering: Razer Synapse, iCUE, SteelSeries, OBS, etc.

How about forcing DirectX 11?

Thankyou for this. Mine also ended up being a Trend Micro problem. Made it an exception and it worked.

Thanks, it’s a Trend Micro problem. Just need to let the launcher .exe through and BANG! I’m playing now!

I am also having the same issue, but I dont use trend mirco. Not sure if Nord is doing this, but i have no other issues with any other game loading.
