Wow dying sadface

Is anyone else sad wow isn’t one of top games anymore? I know I shouldn’t care but alot of games I’ve liked have slowly died to the point that not enough people play them so they die and now it feels like wow is headed that direction. Dn, elsword for some examples. I’m pretty fairly sure wow is around the 1 million mark rn ( prob lower cuz nothing to do rn but raid .) Idk kinda sad. :frowning:

Yea this is the first tier in a long time where I got AOTC and actually quit raiding. I have only bothered to kill the Jailer once. The current raid wasn’t very good to me and I only farmed it enough to get the gear I wanted. The mogs are ugly, so I didn’t even bother to collect them either. Over all, it’s a sad tier for me. I only got one month out of the raid, did all there was to do and now I’ve been playing alts.

The worst part is I would probably care about Mythic raiding, but they lock it down for so long that it’s basically impossible to PUG until the Hall of Fame fills and we can do cross realm. I’ve pugged the last two tiers deep into mythic and I just don’t have the patience or desire to keep asking Blizzard to stop this “world first” BS and unlock the raids properly so we can enjoy it. Same with M+, I got like 3230+ and quit running keys basically. I’ve only done a couple keys in the last month and just been on alts. Normally I play my main the whole xpac.

I wish there was more fun casual content and less restrictions on the mythic raiding. Then I could feel more engaged throughout the patch. But hey, Blizz likes when I unsub constantly due to boredom so I guess they hate money.

Also sorry for bump but… Fortnite is number 1…… yall… fort … knight. :pensive::pensive: u guys gonna let FORK NIGHT WIN!!! :speak_no_evil:

Not really. I’ve played games that were legitimately on their deathbed, and games with far fewer players than WoW that keep chugging along.

I remember being on The Sims Online as EA allowed us to stay connected as they stared to shut it all down. Watching the world around you slowly delete until you’re met with a disconnected alert was bittersweet. Don’t make me get weepy over what they did to TSW, and how that version of the game still “exists” but completely locked only to people who had previously downloaded it.

WoW players have no idea what it’s like to play a game up until the life support plug is pulled.

Fortnite is F2P and is full of trolls and hackers. It also requires basically zero amount of time to build up a character because it resets every match. The two games aren’t comparable.

WoW isn’t in a great spot, and it won’t improve for a while as Blizzard has broken many players’ trust between BfA and SL.

That said, WoW has never been a popular stream or even YouTube game. At least not to watch casually. People tune in for the race to world first, arenas, MDI, but day to day? There’s nothing exciting going on, and that has been the case for WoW’s lifespan. On YouTube the videos that get a lot of love are machinima, and that isn’t something happening in game.

This tier has been boring in general, the sotfo raid is boring… once i got aotc i also stopped raiding and did other things but like most of the time near the end of a patch alot of ppl either get ksm or aotc and fully geared then take a break until next patch bc there is absolutely nothing to do its pretty sad

I don’t care one bit about wow being a “top game”. I am sad that wow isn’t fun anymore.

I think what wow needs is something like a nigmas dota digest, or onlyafros dark souls meme vids. Dang near everything on wow seems to be super conceptual stuff and not alot of: i was doing x in wow, and funny thing happened. Pilav kinda had a few videos like this format but he uploads once ever 500 years. We just need a yter to start playing the game and having fun and making vids about said fun and i think this game would be top doggo again.

If we’re talking about number of players, WoW hasnt been one of the top games for a while now. In terms of MMOs, it most likely still is the top one. Sorry FFXIV homers, it’s most likely true.

Idk like i remember back in legion and wod. People used to banter and say like f runescape, f bdo nobody cares and there was more hype and more like good talks. Now its just … feels sad a bit and kinda… depressing.

I still play really old games that nobody really cares about, anymore. It’s not about how popular it is, but how fun they are. I don’t play as “hardcore” as I used to, but I still play it, when I feel like it. Especially with a baby on the way, WoW isn’t a top priority, for me.

No, my self worth isn’t based on how popular the games I play are.

WoW is almost 18 years old. What do you expect? It’s still the most popular MMO on the market. Others have come and gone.

That’s just gaming culture nowadays. Gloom, angst, and negativity.

Still in top 3 though so its not that bad

Despite FFXIV dethroning it a while ago (mainly cuz of bad decisions on Activizard’s part, but also FFXIV is an amazing game through and through), i still do love WoW and want it to flourish. i’m really hoping Microsoft’s takeover can eventually lead to some serious improvements for the game. But at the same time i’m not gonna hold my breath lol

I was but just because it use to be my go to game. They’ve made many decisions over the years that I do not agree with one bit, no playable ogres and playable Pandas tops that list, and some have actually pushed me away and allowed me to play other games. FFXIV is not that good IMO but obviously it has a following. I just can’t get into it and not gonna try because it just isn’t for me.

There is a bad trend that has been going on for a while now but the past couple of years just brought it more to the front. Game companies, specifically MMO’s, are going against or changing what made them popular to begin with and the player base do not agree with it.

I’ve hopped around these past 2-3 years trying out games I use to play only to find out that they all have been shooting themselves in the foot and ruining what I use to love about those games. Quite a few have been screwing with their talent/skill tree and I am NOT a fan of that. They just prune the fun out of the game. WoW did that a while ago and now recently SWTOR comes right to mind.

These same games/companies are also removing the ability to hybrid which I am also not a fan of. Hybrids are so fun to play when you find a game that allows it. One of THE best build a class systems I have ever played came from RIFT. If other games could allow such flexibility for classes those games would be popping.

Most of those games also appear to be trying to balance or homogenize classes which is a big mistake IMO. You can’t and shouldn’t try to make all classes play or feel the same because they’re not. When you try to funnel or homogenize classes all you actually do is make them less unique and more boring.

To each their own.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t all the devs that created WotLK when WoW was at it’s height leave the company?

If you ask me, the devs are basically trying to reinvent the wheel nowadays when there is no need to.

I think with DF they are starting to listen to the player feedback and bringing back the skill trees.

Now if they could speed the rotations and simplify them, making them feel fast and fluid, they would make this game fun to play again.
