Wow client is the biggest pile when updating the game

When ever a 30mb patch comes onto classic wow the blizzard client has a melt down and takes about 5-10 restarts before it will actually download the update.
Is this common place or is something going wrong on my end?

You will want to move this to tech support, Use the edit pencil and move the thread! Most people do not have this kind of issue. So might be on your end or with your isp.

Sounds like one of a few things: Bad/broken folder permissions, corrupt/broken bnet or bad security settings. Uninstall the bnet client, REBOOT THE PC, delete all of the leftover folders for it, reinstall it.

The leftover folders can be in a bunch of different spots. You can press start+r and paste these shortcuts in to take you directly into the folders. You’ll need to go up one folder level to delete the entire folder, which ensures any potential broken folder permissions are removed:
%programdata%\Battle.net
%programdata%\Battle.net_components
%programdata%\Blizzard Entertainment
%localappdata%\Blizzard Entertainment
%localappdata%\Battle.net
%appdata%\Battle.net
%programfiles(x86)%\Battle.net

Keep in mind that some of those might contain stuff involving other Blizzard games like OW2 or Diablo, so if you see game config stuff in them, back them up before deleting them.

Before you reinstall Battlenet, disable any non-windows defender security apps you might be running. After it’s installed, launch battlenet as an admin by right clicking the icon->run as administrator(just to make sure it can handle changing or fixing any folder permissions it might need to change) and repoint it to your game installation folders.

If that doesn’t work, the game installation folder is probably broken(likely bad/broken folder permissions) and you’ll need to reinstall it completely, making sure to fully delete the leftover folder that the game was installed in.
