WoW Classic Should had been Separated Subscription $9.99/Month

Might as well get used to the idea.

If Blizzard decides classic WoW is a huge success and goes on to re-master BC, WotLK, Cata, etc. in the future, do you really think that ActiBlizzard would give it out for free?

It’s not free, I’m paying $16.50 a month.

You paid zero for the classic WoW client software. So far.

The people who came back just for pre-BC did.

ya lets give blizzard more money to create recyclable content, great idea, they can do burning crusade and lich king and barely have to do any besides copy paste, this company is turned to garbage they cant make anything new

That was vanilla. Classic is vanilla++.

So? People will still come back specifically to play it. They changed nothing about the game itself, it would have cost them very little and every person that subscribes to play it is a subscription they didn’t otherwise have.

They’ll lose more money that way. Classic is a huge time investment, people who will be primarily playing it won’t touch retail and vise versa. The goal is to attract people who want to play classic instead of retail or to give those who are still playing retail something else to do in order to justify their sub.

Stop being so stingy.

no the next expansion may be good its 2 wows for the price of one.

Charging separately could have resulted in less money. If more people are interested in ONLY classic than are interested in BfA/Classic. Your way they would get away with only paying $10 a month whereas Blizzard’s way they get $15 regardless.

I think forum demands aren’t the same as real life. There are several backlashes that would occur if they did a separate sub.

First - people will say “well I bought original wow 10 years ago, why do I now have to buy an additional sub to access it.” No matter your answer there will be people with this mentality.

Second - People are chomping at the bit to hate Blizzard for any kind of additional paid service they offer. Look at the outrage every time a mount goes in the store.

I think the target audience are retired subs - people who don’t play BFA and they want to lure back. Current subs are an after thought. They want you to continue playing BFA and if you suddenly had to choose which sub to have, they’re afraid you’ll choose the nostalgia sub (for $5 cheaper?). It won’t take long for Blizzard to either a) make a TON of money off of people’s nostalgia releasing a classic game, b) prove a model in which they can re-release old expansions to bring decades of retired players back to the game.

People who want World of Warcraft should start a campaign. I don’t want money going from Warcraft 3 and Starcraft to develop an MMO. If people want an MMO, they can just go play Everquest! - People before WOW.

For redeveloping old content? No

It’s literally just adapting old content to a new code. They have a team. The money needs to be pumped into improving retail and making sure the future content stays fun and competitive.

Plus, one sub for two games? Why try to take that away?

Why charge $10 when you can charge $15.

Not a fan of this idea.

I would support a Classic Collectors Edition though, preferably one that isn’t immediately vultured by scalpers for resale gouging.

The crux of OPs point is that Classic should be on a separate subscription because it would show people support it and not take money away from modern WoW.

Many people have had that talking point before. I dont think it holds water because money used from WoW produced hearthstone and overwatch.

I agree OP! Charge the masses!! Make them pay extra for this rehash of old garbage you call Classic!!! Brilliant!!!

It doesn’t, and as I said above, this way may make more money than having a separate sub would anyway.
