You’re making a lot of assumptions that I simply disagree with, but OK
What exactly in my post was an assumption rather than a fact?
No offense, but you’re the type of Paladin I absolutely loathe. Worse than the Hunter meme, because you’re under the delusion that because you can use everything, you should get to roll on everything. Because of players like you, the game was changed to a more restrictive loot and roll system in the later expansions, where there is no doubt what items you can and can’t (shouldn’t) use.
I will concede the point that Classic/Vanilla had itemization problems, and contrary to popular belief, Holy Paladins really did not exist en masse in vanilla like many people seem to think they did, because there wasn’t a lot of plate designed specifically for healing. This lead to the current mindset that anyone who can use it should instinctively roll on it because other options might be limited, which in turn creates more competition for the classes that gear was specifically designed for. We could argue all day, however, about this issue, and it’s not something I care to - people, these days, are under that impression, and no amount of whining from either side will change it, unfortunately.
The only proof you really need, too, is one of the first wow-memes created, Leeroy Jenkins. You might look back on it now and scoff at the idea that the opening wasn’t a big deal, but it was absolutely laughable, at the time, that a Paladin was so interested in devout simply because it let him heal better. That’s literally part of the joke of the video that most people seem to have forgotten, and now it’s just common practice.
Didn’t read all the replies, but here’s my 2 copper from way back when:
My druid was half cloth half leather.
My hunter was half leather and half mail.
My pally… she was in a little bit of everything… total garage sale kit.
You wear what has your stats… it’s just a bonus if it’s your highest armor type.
That GKick did you a favor.
A little up front communication goes a long way to avoid things like this.
If you intend to roll on cloth items, say so up front.
Us Cloth wearers are in a tough spot for that, because we can’t wear anything else though.
That’s fair. Folks like your GM do need to see this thread though Most of us figured this out in Vanilla… but I guess learning from the past is just something a lot of people don’t want to do. There’s a lot of folks playing though, you’re bound to find nicer folks to be around
Might have been WotLK. I remember this too, but by then hybrid classes were much better defined, and itemization for them existed. There was no real reason to wear any other armor.
Even wotlk leather was used by fury warriors. The four stat plategear was always itemized so badly.
There was evena song about that on youtube.
Ok, end-game is different because even for Paladins, there is Int plate by then. So yes, I agree with you.
That 's one of the Cons for being a cloth wearer.
It sucks, but it is well known. Should be a factor in which you are considering your class.
Yup, I wore mostly leather as Enhance and this was deeeep into BC, BT had just come out.
I think it got even worse in BC, but the specs were more put together and gear was easier to pin point.
That perk was called Armored to the Teeth, a fury talent that added attack power based on how much armor you had.
But even with that leather tended to be better.

By his definition a Priest rolling on a needed item for their main spec during a raid where that piece is reserved as BiS for say Mages wouldn’t be ninja looting.
You’re cherry picking scenarios to match your argument. In raids, if it’s BIS, it’s BIS.

By his definition if I were tanking a dungeon with my Resto Druid and rolled on tank gear over the Hunter I’d be ninja looting.
Druids wear leather, Hunters wear mail.
Stop trolling
were you healing, or the priest? let the healer have first shot at cloth upgrades, is my opinion. if you were healing the priest should have showed a little more gratitude.

as my story guys, i’m not mad at him or i dont want to go back in his guild. Thanks god i got out of that guild… The thing is i know for myself that i didnt ninja looted any items and thats more than enough for me.
If you were healing that dungeon then its yours to take…If you are playing dps as feral then I think this is more ninja looting. Unless you specified it first. Which you probably didnt because it was a surprise to the priest.
So f this is the case then you are a ninja looter

It sucks, but it is well known. Should be a factor in which you are considering your class.
Should it?
I play my class for fun, not because of loot rolls in instances.

You’re cherry picking scenarios to match your argument. In raids, if it’s BIS, it’s BIS.
Just because it’s BiS for you doesn’t mean you get to crap all over everybody else in that instance. It might be a significant upgrade for somebody else as well, just not their BiS…so that doesn’t mean you just get it for that reason.
if you were healing and he kicked you for a clear healer upgrade then you are better off without him.
Run with people that understand the game better. I would have encouraged you to roll on it.
though if you were a cat or bear i would recommend running the spec you’re gearing for

This is an interesting strawman. In raids, loot is most always distributed. I don’t know of many that do free for all.

Sorry, but you should just expect the healer to roll on items that are good for healing. Getting someone kicked from their guild because you are unaware druids don’t have to wear leather exclusively is stupid.
If you are a druid healing in the group you can roll on healing gear, if you’re tanking you can roll on tanking gear. So in this case if that priest was healing and you took his healing cloth gear yes you were in the wrong.

the other GM would be scolded by me
Oh no, scolded by a digital entity! Look out!
